“Roll Call” is latest off The Cool Kids’ upcoming When Fish Ride Bicycles. The Chi duo link up here with Asher, Chip & Boldy James over a tight snare and a slick organ hook. Track most def to Chip. Homecourt advantage.
A strong return from the Shadow man. Track is called “I’m Excited” and it features Afrikan Boy on vocals. We are into it. It’s new DJ Shadow! You should be excited!
Think this one speaks for itself. Adele covered Bonnie Raitt’s classic ballad during her set today at London’s iTunes Festival. Just a really beautiful track. Tip to Music From Go to Whoa for the stream.
Guitarist Dennis Coffey is a legend. As a member of the Funk Brothers, Coffey played on countless classic tracks for the Motown label, The Temptations’ “Cloud Nine”, The Supremes “Someday Will Be Together” (my personal favorite Supremes’ tune), Edwin Starr’s “War”, etc. That is a serious resume. In April, the guitarist, as part of a self-titled LP, released “All Your Goodies Are Gone”, a collaboration with fellow Detroit-native (via Ann Arbor) and b3sci fav Mayer Hawthorne. Here on this remix of “Goodies” by another b3sci fav Shigeto, the track gets a future soul run, complete with spacey synth and vibed out rhythms; a remix we wouldn’t be surprised to hear turn up on an upcoming Gilles Peterson show. Stream the track below.
This is in the trailer for the film “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo”. What a cool idea for them to cover this Zeppelin song, and what makes it even better is that it sounds just how you’d expect it to. Enjoy, and at 1:39 you just might have the time to put it on twice. Contributed by Bruce Rave
Big Troubles, a New Jersey-based four piece, got jams. Big, distortion-heavy, AWESOME jams. “Misery” sets the pace with some great kick-snare four-on-the-floor, cool delay-pedaled guitar leads, and a nice crunchy 90s-esque sound.
One of the dopest production duos in the universe Vodka & Milk released today their “The Remixes: Volume II” EP. What does that mean for you? You’re about to get hit with some serious legit shit. And V&M have excellent taste with it as many of the remixed tracks fall squarely in the category b3sci ALL TIME FAVS “What Means the World to You” “Wamp Wamp (What It Do)”, etc. Get a sample below.
Not one, but TWO Theo London jams for your Thursday. “No Particular One” is a cover of the great Jesse Boone soul track Mr. London recently cut with the Budos Band. Fresh. “Wine & Chocolates”, excerpted from the “Lover’s Holiday” EP from earlier this year, sounds as much Theo London 2011 as it does late 90’s alternaelectro. We’re hearing Soul Coughing! Timez Are Weird These Dayz is due July 19
Been waiting for this one! Here goes some CDQ of Zedd’s heavy-duty “Save the World” remix. Who’s gonna save the world tonight? Is it you? Is it b3sci? Is it the soupa!?
