What a genius! Has there ever been more of a musical chameleon than Don Van Vliet? Well, maybe his longtime frenemy, Frank Zappa, which almost could’ve been the Lennon/McCartney of weird. I’m Glad proves that 60’s psychedelic rock never forsook the innocence of the first half of the decade. Rich production juxtaposed with economic instrumentation allows Vliet’s emotionally naked vocal to shine. Every listen of I’m Glad feels like the first time. If anything, the first two Beefheart albums are underrated. Contributed by Christopher Gedos

UPDATE: OK, so one of our readers sent thru to us a bunch of killer unreleased promos (some of which we may run later today, get psyched.), and this particular one was mislabeled? It may not be the collaboration we were led to believe it was Deadmau5 and/or Skrillex or not, the jam still knocks pretty hard. See if you can connect some of the dots in this mystery. WHO IS AL BIZZARE???
RE:Yes this is what you think it is. Not much else to say except shit is about to get intense.. Shouts to Pontus!

When the forces of Mick Jagger, Damian Marley, Joss Stone, Dave Stewart & A.R. Rahman combine they sound like a reggae band? Not that we’re complaining – “Miracle Worker” jams as hard as it rocks. Gotta give it to the man, Jagger sounds great here, he sounds re-energized. So Jagger check, Damian Marley sounds dope as always, and eh there’s….Joss Stone, not sure why they let her in the band, she’s as hammy as ever on the track and without question sound tolerable only in harmony with the other voices.

Statik Selektah laces up something fresh for Gibbs on “Keep It Warm For Ya”. We’re talking super smooth track here. Maybe the smoothest shit you’ll listen to today.
Freddie Gibbs – Keep It Warm For Ya (feat. Smoke DZA & Chace Infinite)Delilah first caught our attention with her lights out vocal on the “Time” record she did with Chase & Status. Next followed the breathtaking “Breathe”. (seriously, listen to this girl sing. crazy.) Offered up now is the track for “Go” which is a collaboration with East London production duo Balistiq. “Go” is another strong track, stylistically between “Time” and “Breathe”, “Go” lives sonically somewhere between dub, trip-hop, garage, and harder electro. If that sounds like a stew you’d like to sample, then check on the track below.

When we first heard “Bad On the Bottle”, we thought, oh no here we go again! Bago must be yet another pseudonym for James Blake – given the track’s Winehouse-esque vocals and future garage sound. But actually…Bago is a super talented artist out of LA. NOT James Blake.
Bago – Bad On the Bottle (Prod. Alexander Spit)Open wide, here comes the heater. Think we’ll be hearing a lot of more of “Bad Girls Club” on hip hop radio over the next couple months.

As much as we love the smooth tones of Pete Tong’s supple baritone. We couldn’t wait to get to you the CDQ version of Calvin Harris’ excellent “Feel So Close” without the Tongman talking all over it. So here goes…. Play it loud. Play it proud. p.s. Lunchtime, I feel so close to you right now!

He’s ours (one of the benefits of blogging for b3sci), so if you’re up for an introduction 1) check this track 2) tweet at us 3) ??? 4) _______
