Anthony Hamilton – Why Oh Why

Social

Finally. Finally. Finally. At last, we’ve are hands on some if not totally new, 100% unreleased, unheard music from our man Anthony Hamilton. Back in ’08 AH dropped the excellent The Point Of It All and has been, aside from a feature here and there, totally silent. “Why Oh Why” is that classic Hamilton sound, a powerful but somber vocal on top a classic modern r&b instrumental. (Real shit). Get re-connected with Mr. Hamilton below.

Something sweet and new from London singer-songwriter Lucy Rose. “Be Alright” is a beautiful pensive piano ballad that really shows off Ms. Rose’s keen ability to use her soothing gorgeous vocal instrument to pick at the most precise emotive points.

SULK – Wishes

255975_160933773974583_125458280855466_379198_5811682_o

New UK band SULK offer up a strong debut with the track for “Wishes”. The tune, which sounds as if it could be an outtake from The Stone Roses s/t sessions (we mean that in the best possible way.), borrows heavily from the Madchester heyday of bands like The Roses, The Happy Mondays & Inspiral Carpets. SULK takes that classic sound and updates it with a more modern melodic and instrumental sensibility. See what you think below.

Ladylike Lily – I’m Terrified of Being

ladylikelily

A Francophone female cooing a haunting tune on top a minor-keyed acoustic guitar. Yeah, like we can resist that shit.

Chip Tha Ripper – Me Too (Feat. Coco of Quadron and Like of Pac Div)

chip

@Chip216 links up with Coco O(!) from Quadron for this new “Me Too” joint produced by Blended Babies. “Me Too”‘s a bit different sound from Chip. – a bit more synth-y, a bit more processed. But we like this new look on Chip and then you add in on top that Coco’s soulful coos and (exhale), it’s serious.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich – Atlas Hands (Mike Skinner Remix)

bfl2

Skinner recently let loose this re-do of BFL’s blog-o-verse smash “Atlas Hands”. With a pace firmly electro; laid back female vocals supporting big synthetic beats, Mike Skinner basically delivers up to what BFL would sound like if he sang on a Streets record. Hows that retirement coming, Mike?

Dum Dum Girls – Coming Down

dum-dum-girls-only-in-my-dreams

The Dum Dum Girls just dropped this cover of “Fade Into You” this morning and we’re loving it. Seriously, “Coming Down” is great and a big step up for the band. The section just after the midpoint of the song, where the instrumental comes up out of the second chorus, is really moving. Nice work, ladies!
