NAO released her Saturn LP on October 26th. One of Saturn’s many highlights is the dance-y Mura Masa-produced “If You Ever”. An additional version of “If You Ever”, available only behind the Soundcloud paywall, features a verse from 6LACK.
The great Ryan Egan is back with a new record in the form of “Won’t You Be the One”. We’re digging the track’s midtempo 70’s-esque aesthetic and the brand new video for the song (which we’re very pleased to premiere at B3SCI!). Egan collaborated with co-director Amanda Taylor Evans for the “Won’t You Be the One” vid and describes his aim in matching the track’s feel, “We wanted to create a visual that complimented the slow-melting, sleepy groove of the track and I thought it’d be rad to base it all around a slowly rotating Spike Lee style dolly shot.”
Stream the B3SCI Premiere of Ryan Egan’s video for the excellent track Won’t You Be the One below.
We’re digging the dark pop of L.A. artist Sky Keller’s new track “Bad”. On the track, Keller’s cool alto skips percussively atop a kinetic 808, each vocal hook sounding bigger than the last. About “Bad’s” lyric Keller says, ““there was an absence of resolution, and that was the hardest part.” We’re pleased to B3SCI Premiere “Bad” by Sky Keller below.
B3SCI is very pleased to announce the release of “Lonesome No More”, the new EP from Laura Jean Anderson. Lauded by NPR, Fader, Noisey, KCRW and many more, and in possession of a dynamic powerhouse voice, Anderson’s tracks on “Lonesome No More” are both stirring and sublime. Stream EP tracks “Thinkin Bout You” and new one “Call It What It Is” and check the AMAZING in studio performances of “Love You Most” and “Thinkin Bout You” below.
Leeds UK act Far Caspian undefeated run of gem after gem after gem remains intact with release of new stream “Blue”. A hooky bit of melodic indie, “Blue” separates itself on its cool use of atmosphere and fearlessness of reaching for the big hook.
Features! The Free Nationals, known for their work with Anderson. Paak, collaborate with man of the moment Daniel Caesar and the UMO all-stars for a dreamy west coast R&B serenade we are loving.
Out now on B3SCI Records is “Have My Back” / “Forest Green”, the new AA-side single from Berlin via Australia producer Kyson. Following on from “Every High / Clear Air” single (also B3SCI) and in collaboration with Majestic Casual Records, the new tracks further explore Kyson’s pairing of his own vocal melodies to his inimitable production work. More details about Kyson and this latest release can be found at B3SCI Records.
Danger Collective will release BOYO’sDance Alone LP in November. “Hit or Miss” is Dance Alone’s latest stream. The very cool “Hit or Miss” features a 70’s-ish atmosphere in the heaviness of its space. Stream “Hit or Miss” below.
“Valentine”, from West London singer Hope Tala, is excerpted here from “Starry Ache” Tala’s new just-released EP. “Valentine” is a neat blend of whirling rhodes, a kinetic neo-soul-esque rhythm track, and Tala’s cool vocal atop the mix. Listen below.
“Happen Twice” comes to us from Michigan man Mark Whalen. Propelled by a school of Norman Whitfield midtempo bassline and an array of minor-keyed guitar leads, “Happen Twice” is as cool as a “Cloud Nine” deep cut.
Its most excellent to hear Liam Bailey’s powerhouse vocal again. Bailey is back with a great new tune in the form of “Brother, Why You Gotta Love Her?”. The track features the recently re-emerged Maverick Sabre (we loved his “Drifting” track from last month), and puts Bailey’s A-level vocal at the fore over a spare rhythm-driven instrumental. Stream Liam Bailey’s new one below.
