Shoegaze of the highest order via Israel. “Sway with Me”, the lead track from the band’s superb Pulsar LP, is beautiful, romantic, transportive – all of the things that make good shoegaze great.

New fire from XV. “All For Me” also features CyHi, Vado & NYC singer Erin Christine. Sick. XV’s upcoming Kid With the Green Backpack is one of our most anticipated LPs of 2011. Get psyched.

It’s 2005, Zagatya’s chillin’ at his West LA spread, doing what Zagatya does, wearing $200 jeans, sippin on some antioxidant organic tea, hollering @ My Bloody Valentine’s manager, etc. This heater pops into his inbox. And he’s like “Fuuuuuuuuuck,” (where are my glow sticks and raver shades?) but also, he’s like “WTF” “Where have heard this sound before?” “Yes, I know I have” “Hmmmmmmmmm. I seem to recall. Could it be? Yes! Yes it is!” “I should really call those guys.”

My Shih Tzu Stella (see photo) is back. In between scarfing a pizza and throwing down on some dog treats she overheard me bumping this “I Crave Paris” mash from last year, you know Aeroplane + Flight Facilities + Friendly Fires, and was like “Song rips. But you need to turn that fucker up. Pedal to the metal, baby!” And I Was like, “Yeahhhhh, Stella! Don’t we both know it. Lets get this sucker moving.” And so it was. The Stella Edit for “I Crave Paris”.

Newcomer Scourge, a UK producer out of Sussex, recently completed this cool rework Flux’s megajam from last year “I Can’t Stop”. Scourge weaves into the mix some pretty sick wobbles and killer beat variations. Some really nice sounds from someone who’s only been in the game for a short while. And to do it over top a bootleg. Sick. Can’t wait to hear more.

Our guy Shlohmo is back with this monster of a slow jam on “Places”. This is that Hennessey shit, that straight up Kev Brown Hennessey shit, that Brown Sugar D’Angelo ready to flip R&B on its head type shit. Into it.

Dang, I know I’m an adult woman, but this preteen jam was bumping like crazy on the radio in Cleveland this weekend while I was visiting home. Initially I couldn’t understand how something so rudimentary could appeal to anyone. The more it played, though, I got sucked in by its infectious bleeps. Now I can’t wait til the next Weezy mixtape drops with him freestyling over this beat. This is saccharine, by-the-book pop music sung by 14 year olds, and I love everything about it. Combine this with their dance moves – Chris Brown and Usher better be on notice.

OMG yes! So straight away we loved Gold Panda’s original “Marriage” single. Loved is maybe putting it a bit mildly. Totally fucking knocked out. (And the vid’s the shit too). But jeez, Star Slinger just went next level with this remix. Star Slinger is maybe our favorite electronic artist in the game right now. Like can’t wait from release to release for what comes next. Dude is so so good. How many artists can you genuinely say that about, right? So legit.

Julian, bud, you know this totally sounds like Radiohead, right? Not that we’re complaining. The tune has legs. The thin electro-drums, the arpeggiated guitar layers, the frenetic vocals. Nikolai we see you bumping OK Computer on your iPod touch. It’s OK, we’re still cool. We like this song, just please don’t go all Our Lady Peace on us and come back sounding like this on LP 5. All we ask.

“You Turn Clear In The Sun” is a favorite cut from Telekinesis’ new album 12 Desperate Straight Lines. Complete with a nice verse, the song is light and bouncy and doesn’t drag on. It’s a solid pop song. And besides, the world could always use more singing drummers.
Telekinesis – You Turn Clear In The Sun“Electric Witch” is new from UK trio The Shutes. We’re loving these guitar hooks and how effortlessly they flow into the chorus, with a familiar yet fresh sound.
