“Somebody That I Used to Know” by Australia’s Wally De Backer a/k/a Gotye is one of those just wall-to-wall great songs. From the construction, to the melodies, chrouses to verse; great harmonies, great lyrics, “Somebody That I Used To Know” executes amazingly well on all that and more. This is serious music. “Somebody” is not the sort of song you fuck with or take lightly. See what we mean below.

On about my 20th play in a row of this. Can’t. get. enough. literally. Cole is on some kind of run right now. Our man is peaking at just the right time. Cole World is going to kill and J. Cole is going to be a massive star. “Can’t Get Enough” rips just about anything on hip hop radio right now. …And on top all that, the track’s got Trey Songz! You know we fuck w Mr. Steal Yo Girl. Cole World is due Sept. 27.

Tourmates collide on this Mayer Hawthorne cover of Chromeo’s “When the Night Falls”. For the cover, Mr. Hawthorne enlists a beat that could double for Steely Dan’s “Do It Again” and laces it up with all the cool dad music trappings one could ever want. Ever wanted to feel hard on a fresh King Harvest or Looking Glass vibe? Look no further, friend and give Mayer’s “When the Night Falls” a spin.

We were super psyched to hear b3sci fav Omar Souleyman joined Bjork in the studio recently to cut some remixes on the track for her upcoming Biophilia LP. This dope remix of the blogoverse hit “Crystalline” is a first preview of a finished result of one of those sessions. Fresh as fuck.

SNEAKPEEK is a newish band out of L.A. city (they’re currently in process of recording their debut EP). “Walk All Over Me” is something fresh; a really engaging mix of big distorted guitars, shoegaze aesthetic, psychedelic/garage influences, and faraway female vocals. You’ve likely heard all these components whether by themselves or in some combination together before but you’ve likely never quite heard them melded together like this or pulled off quite so well. And “Walk All Over Me” is just a live demo! We are psyched for more.

The Lady Danville dudes (we’re fans) cut this acoustic guitar/piano-driven take of the ubiquitous MGMT song earlier this year. We’re into it. What do y’all think?

It’s indie! It’s afrobeat! It’s actually good! “The Dive” by L.A. band Fool’s Gold represents a strong return for the much talked about five piece. The track marries 70’s West African-style guitar riffing with 2011 indie pop via 1985ish British new wave (lol how far apart are those two things right now anyway?). “The Dive” is great and is likely to be a staple of the summer blogoverse playlist. Get a first listen below.
