PEACE – BBLOOD

peace

UK band Peace bring to us an enormous sound on “Bblood”. Think Foals or even Fool’s Gold and then ratchet up the noise, volume, total general chaos and you’re getting close to Peace. Tropical-esque guitars and anthemic vocals (and backing vocals!), layer up layer of epic, engaging sound, let “Bblood” introduce you to this little heralded but powerful young band. (ABEANO)

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings – Longer and Stronger

sharonjones2

“Longer and Stronger” is track three on a new b-sides compilation of Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings material being put out by Daptone Records next month. “Longer and Stronger” is a solid example of the powerhouse soul Ms. Jones has built her career on.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds – I’d Pick You Every Time

noel

“I’d Pick You Every Time”, the b-side to NG’s “If I Had a Gun” single, continues Noel’s record with great b-sides that stretches back to the earliest days of Oasis. It’s often that Noel saves these more folkier divergences for the b-side. And the half-time, almost countrified (is that a banjo, Noel?) “I’d Pick You Every Time” is very much in that “Folky” Noel lane. Spin it below.

Deadmau5 – Raise Your Weapon (Alternate Version)

deadmau5raiseyourweapon

We put b3sci to bed for Thursday with this new chilled version of “Raise Your Weapon” Deadmau5 has been at work on. Gone are the dubstep, and electro refs, and most of what’s left is Greta’s excellent vocal and a spare electric piano. Listen.

Jason Burns – Back To You

jasonburns

We LOVE this. CLEVELAND artist Jason Burns’ “Back to You” has been around for a minute but we’re just getting back into now via our pal Anthony Valadez, who spun the tune this week on his late night KCRW show. “Back to You” is major (that beat is beautiful, crazy, sick, all that, love the A. Keys sample!) but it should also be said, Mr. Burns reps our hometown. We had NO IDEA music like THIS was being made back home (UK Garage-influenced 2 step in the CLE!)! Cleveland, we love you and we miss you!

Young Jeezy – F.A.M.E. (Feat. T.I.) (Prod. J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League)

jeezy-fame

The two Atlanta giants trade bars on top a tough new J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League beat. Jeezy’s seemingly forever delayed TM 103 is set to get yet another release date on Monday. Who’s taking bets that this won’t be when the album actually drops either. The Passion of the Jeezy. Tip, sounds re-focused, on this his first high profile post-prison feature. His rhymes are sharp and interesting and his more laid back delivery on the track complements Jeezy’s more manic verses.

Kutcorners – Diamond (Feat. Curtis Santiago)

soultrain

Oh yes. Kutcorners brings the funk and the “hits from the 80’s” on new track “Diamond”. From the second you press play, this shit will transport you instantly to a dope ass circa 1983 Soul Train dance line. It’ll be you, Don Cornelius, and a bevy of fine females doing “The Steamroller” as everyone in the vicinity loses their minds.

RAVE’S FAVES: Sleeper Agent – Shuga Cane

sleeperagent

Sleeper Agent is doing something not too common nowadays: straight-forward, fun rock that has an indie flavor. They’re from Bowling Green, KY and have been touring with the likes of Cage the Elephant and Manchester Orchestra. Their “Get It Daddy” track has gained national airplay. “Shuga Cane” is an awesome deeper track, and see if it doesn’t remind you of the old Brit band Slade. Contributed by Bruce Rave

Asobi Seksu – Little House of Savages (The Walkmen)

asobiseksu

Asobi Seksu come up aces on this new cover of The Walkmen’s “Little House of Savages”. Asobi bend The Walkmen’s big distorted guitar sound and space it out a bit. This is near space though. Mars, Venus, that sort of shit. This cover isn’t that far of a sonic departure. That aside, it’s still an excellent rendition. We especially love how the guitars lift out into the choruses. Win to Asobi Seksu.

Benjamin Francis Leftwich – Shine

benjaminfrancisleftwich

b3sci fav Benjamin Francis Leftwich returns with one of his catchiest tracks to date, new single “Shine”. The track serves as further example of Leftwich ‘s excellent sense of construction and restraint in melody, rhythm, and arrangement. Great tune.
