This Fred V & Grafix mix of Emeli Sandé’s (big fans) latest single has been blowing up UK radio the last couple weeks. The mix is a little more DnB than anything else but there’s a lot “anything else” going on the track. Fred V & Grafix are on top form right now and their remix for “Daddy” is one of the best DnB remixes of the year.

Seattle based rapper, Grieves offers up a piano-driven melody with highly relatable lyrics and an impressive chorus hook. The song reminds me of childhood, and specifically, how our differences as kids were countervailed by the bonds we shared through riding in the last seat of the bus and going to the local deli to pickup packs of baseball cards. Grieves’ lines about these ideas make the song all the more authentic and set the mood for an interval of reflection. The song crosses many disciplines and I believe, has something for everyone. “Softer Cell” comes to us via Brighton, UK duo You Love Her Coz She’s Dead. Sans the dark name, the dark art, and for the most part a dark album of industrial inspired electro pop, deeper cut “Softer Cell” showcases a delicate prettier side of YLHCSD.

We end the week with an ass kicking c/o of Florida band The Owsley Brothers. Like raw, swampy sounding electric blues as much as us? Yeah, that’s what we thought. Give The Owsley Bros’ “Burden On Your Eyes” a spin below.

Here goes something new from Remix Artist Collective in support of NYC band Violens. The dark guitar pop of the original is traded in for that sweeter more chilled RAC-80’s sound.
