Our man Miguel takes us there with “Gravity”, new from his “Art Dealer Chic” mini-EP. Tracks like “Gravity” and “Adorn”, while as sleek and prime as they come, definitely mark a different, less commercial direction for Mr. Jontel on this mini-EP. The next Indie R&B darling, throwback crooner, Top 40 hitmaker, seems from here the path diverges. Miguel is a mega-talented dude, player can knock down all three roles and etc but there must be a focus, a path forward. Which will Miguel choose?

Included in the bonus material to Boy Friend’s awesome debut Egyptian Wrinkle is this (like most BF material) first hour back inside the space station version of The Cars’ classic monster ballad “Drive”. Seemingly built for that spacewalking astronaut’s ipod, BF’s version of “Drive” relaxes and comforts despite the orginal song’s more withdrawn subject matter.

A building wave of blog buzz behind her the fierce Meg Myers rolls into b3sci station with this Semothy Jones remix of “Monster”. The 90’s influence tag gets tossed about quite a bit with Meg, and while we hear it (Fiona Apple, PJ Harvey, etc), the indomitable Ms. Myers is a force wayyy too potent to box up so tightly. For his part, UK producer Semothy Jones sets “Monster” up with a subtle (tasteful lol) creepstep sheen. First thing’s first, Meg’s gonna eat your brains.

We’ve been into Mystery Jets for a while now (even in our crazy pre-b3sci days). Their last record Serotonin was kind of a bummer, but their material up to then was pretty ace. The band are readying their latest LP Radlands (due April 30 on Rough Trade) and have dropped lead single “Someone Purer” to get you interested. Are you interested? “Someone Purer” is a nice return featuring a hookier than a coatroom verse and just enough “anthemicness” in the chorus to warrant repeat plays. Start play one below.

The One and Nines are a band out of Jersey City that offer up some great rhythm and blues. “Tell Me” is a song that flat out makes you feel good, and it’s always nice when it feels like a band is truly enjoying playing the music that they love. That’s what’s so great about these guys, their music beams with authenticity, dedication, and fun, all of which combine for an undeniable chemistry. Pick up their 7” that also features the song “Make it Easy.” We can’t wait to hear more from these guys.

CH let go this “club mix” (sans Ne-Yo’s vocal) on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show this past weekend. Ne-Yo’s our dude and all like we bump “Beautiful Monster” just as much as your favorite blogger’s other favorite blogger but we’re definitely feeling this CH-on-steroids instrumental only mix just as much (if not more) than the original. See what you think below. She’s a monsterrrrrr.

No dude, we do not want to hear your “No Church in the Wild” dubstep remix. There are about 900000000 “No Church in the Wild” re-dos festering within the internet’s darkest reaches, some good, some shitty, some awwwwright; but b3sci guaranteed you haven’t heard a “NCITW” version like this yet. Ex-Pussycat Doll (the one with the truly mindblower of a voice) Melody Thornton jumps on the Throne beat and absolutely kills it. We are talking chalk outline on the pavement, cold case kills it. Sing it, Melody.

Maundrie Fox is PA-born and South Korea-based bedroom producer Eric Anderson. Our man just released a solid self-titled 7 song EP to Bandcamp a few weeks ago of which the pleasantly hypnotic “And the Dark” is our pick. Spin that track below and get connected with the rest that s/t EP here

Athens GA-based songstress Lera Lynn drops this brooding, 2 AM on the edge of town cover of the iconic June Carter-penned classic. Lera had this to say about the cover, “I always thought June Carter’s “Ring of Fire” was written as a dark song, maybe it’s just where I was when I heard it one dark day. It’s been a lot of fun to rearrange it, almost making it my own. I hope we’ve done it justice. I hope they [the Cash Family] would be proud.”
