Fly Golden Eagle – Take You There

Swagger by Fly Golden Eagle is a funky gem that pushes the limits of musical irony with witty pointed lyrics, soulful jing-jangle and playful cult-classic mystique. Check out “Take You There” off of the album.

Capitol 6 – Cold Ride

“Cold Ride” is the new single from fab five outfit Capitol 6 by way of Vancouver. The track harkens back to psych-pop and all of it’s glory with a tambourine friendly A/B structure and refrain hook worthy of any record collection.

Euros Childs – Spin That Girl Around

There’s something reborant about Welsh songwriter Euros Childs new recording of “Spin That Girl Around”. There’s a whimsical quality to it, something intoxicating that we just can’t get out of our heads. As Euros puts it “… it was bugging me that there wasn’t a studio recording of the band version, so for peace of mind I recorded this version and thought it would make a good single”. And indeed it does. You can download the track over at his site here. Also worth noting, the former Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci frontman is currently putting finishing touches on his 8th solo album Summer Special which is expected this August on his own label, National Elf.

Azealia Banks – 1991

We’re not totally sure how we feel about this new Azealia Banks EP. Of the EP’s three new tracks, the 90’s house-styled title track is the definite standout. OK.

Florence + The Machine – Cosmic Love (Seven Lions Remix)

By Erin Shay

SoCal producer Seven Lions turns up the charm with his “lovestep” version of Florence + Machine’s blissful, yet heart-pumping ballad, “Cosmic Love”. This beautiful extremity of neatly layered beats starts out sleepy, with a hint of harp and Flo’s angelic vocal touch, and smoothly into sweet mehem. Under headphones this remix of “Cosmic Love” is a delightful tap into the celestial stratosphere, especially if you can handle it on repeat. Enjoy!

Big K.R.I.T. – What You Mean (Feat. Ludacris)

The release of K.R.I.T. the Monster’s oft-delayed (and much anticipated) major label debut Live From The Underground is now within site. (June 5). Here K.R.I.T. mean mugs all over freshly surfaced track “What You Mean”. With it’s cold hooks and almost sinister sound, “WYM” is music you’re gonna have to stunt to to really listen to properly. Old Man Bridges chips in 16, sounding less hackneyed/annoying than usual.

RAVE’S FAVE: Little Barrie – Surf Hell

By Bruce Rave

This is a UK 3-piece fronted by the killer guitar player Barrie, who just likes to use his first name. They combine 60′s influenced garage and blues and have a Rolling Stones feel. There’s a line on the band’s site that Barrie’s guitar sounds like “Dwayne Eddy with a distortion pedal”. Their sound is far more than that, but that vibe definitely applies to “Surf Hell”. They played in LA this past Thursday and nailed it despite having just arrived from London that afternoon. They will play dates in Seattle, Portland, Oakland, and San Diego this coming week before heading back to the UK.
