Picking up where those guys left off, the Parisian duo Saavan recently unleashed some high energy vocals and production on their latest single, “Like Fire.” Expertly melding laid back and up beat vibes, this single is sure to make some sizable waves. Premiere: Jimmy – Jimmy

Photo: Zosha Warpeha

B3 is very pleased to premiere “Jimmy” a self-titled track from newcomer artist Jimmy. Constructed around a lyrical narrative and notion that the individual is composed of many disparate selves each obscured in varying degrees by external and internal pressures of expectation and ego “Jimmy” is, in addition, a very strong well-written pop song. “There are many sides to James”. Kali Uchis – After the Storm (Feat. Tyler, The Creator & Bootsy Collins)

If you’re looking for a track to take you on a silky smooth journey, look no further. When I first heard this track, I was entranced. I honestly stopped everything I was doing and just listened. Kali Uchis’ r&b styled vocals paired with funky, soulful rhythms and bass tracks builds the most beautiful duo.

Sam Moss – Flowers

Sam Moss of the artist collective and label Lost Honey Records has released a new single in anticipation of his upcoming LP, Neon. “Flowers” is a stunning testament to Moss’s expertise as both a singer/songwriter and a talented instrumentalist. The track shines as tender and accessible folk. While his music has reached NPR, Fader, and WXPN, his audience is still growing—and deservedly so.

Optimystical – Heaven

The five-member group Optimystical has released “Heaven,” a new single with flavors of experimental hip-hop, alternative R&B, and indie pop. Frontman Nutter Tut raps over a laid back drum track and dense synths skating back and forth between a buoyant and forewarning atmosphere. Nutter Tut ends his vocal blasting with a punch. “Will you learn to grow / heaven only knows / you grew up too fast / stop and smell a rose.”

Omar Apollo – Unbothered

One of the year’s best songs thusfar is the deep in the reverb and infinitely soulful “Unbothered” from Omar Apollo. Bolstered by an A+ vocal, Apollo’s timing and diction is particularly strong here, “Unbothered” is the sort of wistful but still uplifting soulful pop song B3 dreams are made of. Don’t miss it.

Tom Misch – Water Baby (Feat. Loyle Carner)

It’s Misch O’Clock. You know Tom Misch. The purveyor of cool English pop with a jazzy bent. Mr. Misch’s latest is “Water Baby” a piano-driven midtempo number built on sunny staccato major chords that has us pining for SF in springtime.

The Ghost of Helags – Anthem (We Came From the Stars)

The Ghost of Helags have just dropped “Anthem (We Came From The Stars),” a new single from the Scandinavian dream pop duo written to commemorate the city of Berlin as a multidimensional hub of aspiring artists, societal outcasts, and other sprites hovering in between the worlds. Björk-like vocals ride atop reverb drenched cello and thumping drum tracks that seem to burst from all corners. The atmosphere is wistful and daydreamy, as if grasping for something not quite in reach.

Midsplit – Same Life (Feat. Wiz Khalifa)

Midsplit has released “Same Life,” the Montreal producer’s first single of the year. Driving guitar, scattered and panned beats, and warm synths sway from the background to the foreground. The EDM track is an upbeat mix featuring Wiz Khalifa. It’s a pop-infused bouncy house meant for fuzzy, sweaty nights.

Little Elizabeth – G’Day For It

What a track. “G’Day For It” is new from Aussie trio Little Elizabeth. A slow simmering rhythm-driven midtempo track, LE prove superb stylists (and ostensibly also exhibit superb taste in turtlenecks) on “G’Day For It”; lacing deep in the mix reverb guitars to jabs of sax and bits of falsetto and harmony. Puma Blue – Only Trying 2 Tell U

Puma Blue a/k/a S London’s Jacob Allen is in possession of a commanding/special falsetto/voice. The potent “Only Trying 2 Tell U” transposes school of D’Angelo songwriting to a more remote starting place. A++.
