Quadron – Hey Love

Quadron Hey Love

That moment when one of your favorite artists returns from a long hiatus with really great new material is truly a gift. Danish duo Quadron’s return single “Hey Love” is one of that moments for the b3 squad. “Hey Love” wins on its irresistible drum hook and singer Coco O’s subtle as silk empassioned delivery. It’s new Quadron!

Brolin – Reykjavik

DD017 - Brolin - Cundo - Cut Down

UK producer/Jeremy Lin frat-boy band side project Brolin transports us the beautifully stark & grey Icelandic capital with the smoky synth pop of “Reykjavik”. Did you know over 70% of the Icelandic population lives in metro Reykjavik? We’re guessing here our man Brolin is crushin’ pretty hard on at least one lucky Reyjaviker. Check it out.

Mikky Ekko – Pull Me Down (The Internet Remix)

mikky-ekko-pull-me-down-internet-ofwgkta-remix-534x534

The Internet’s (OFWGKTA’s Syd the Kyd & Matt Martians) sultry remix of Mikky Ekko’s great “Pull Me Down” from last year is so good, it warrants a lifting of b3sci’s long standing Odd Future Embargo. Sade just called (yeah’s she’s got our number, deal with it.) and said this remix is too sexy even for her. Get familiar below.

Jared Evan – Are We Almost There Yet?

arewealmostthereyet

New York soul songwriter Jared Evan makes his B3 debut with the feel good “Are We Almost There Yet?” Evan gets on well enough on the track; particularly in the melody department, where JE’s laid back flow and in-no-hurry sung hook do nicely to complement Statik Selektah’s excellent (and the track’s true star) sunny Sunday afternoon beat. Jared Evan’s Boom Bap and Blues project is due a week from today, February 26th.

Shlohmo – Don’t Say No (Feat. How To Dress Well)

shlohmo

Shlohmo makes it all look so easy. The Los Angeles based producer yet again showcases his immense talent with latest single, “Don’t Say No” featuring How to Dress Well. The newest track from his “Laid Out” project, the new EP demonstrates Shlohmo’s unique ability to draw the listener out of their world and into his. How to Dress Well’s Tom Krell’s R&B-laden vocals and Shlohmo’s mastery of all that is beats make the wait for “Laid Out” due out March 5th, that much more difficult. By Phoebe Severin

SA5H – Lights (Extended Mix)

sa5h

Like many, I’m pretty new to Sa5h. It’s perplexing how great artists can be under the radar. However, mediocrity is readily available. “Lights” feels like a smash hit. The vocals and beat scream feel good, summer time partying and radio success. By Teddy Pendergrass

Skanky – Slack

skanky

When I sing along to “Slack” by Skanky, it feels like I am in New Kids On The Block; harmonizing simple lyrics, for the ladies approval, with a special funk. The 80s boy band might be corny now, but they hit the right notes for some of our mothers back then. By Teddy Pendergrass

Rave’s Fave: Foals – Providence

foals

Foals’ Holy Fire album came out last week and this third album of theirs rocks. Since dropping the well-received single “Inhaler” their lead up to the release of the entire album has seemed nothing but strong. Holy Fire delivers the goods. The guitar-oriented dance dudes in Foals explore oft different directions in their compositions, and they do so nicely with “Providence”. After a strange, dark lead-in vocal, the song kicks into one of the finest grooves I’ve heard in recent memory as momentum increases into a climax that is perfectly over the top. It will be fun to hear what Foals do with this song in concert. Be sure to catch them at Coachella this year. By Bruce Rave

LULS – Sympathy or Love

luls3

London band LULS impress again with new single “Sympathy or Love”. The soaring UK rock track comes rammed to the gills with all the anthemic rock trappings; big sing-a-long choruses, oceansize guitars and Pangaea-dimensioned drums (it is really big). The band have scored some A-list support slots in England including opening for Crystal Castles on their latest tour of the country. LULS have a handful of dates upcoming next month including a bunch of shows with Theme Park which you can examine below.

On-The-Go – Deception

on-the-go

Russian band On-The-Go return with new single “Deception”. The track, which may remind a bit of a more pop-on-their-sleeves version of Foals (souful, dreamy, bass-driven) and is the band’s first UK release, is definitely of a strong enough quality to tick radars in that country. The band have an LP in the works November that will released later this year.
