Snakadaktal – Ghost

snakdaktal

“Ghost” is new from Australian band Snakadaktal’s upcoming LP debut LP. The cool like jazz on a rainy Sunday evening sound of “Ghost” marks a more mature textured sound for the Melbourne-based band. The machiniation between each effortless note of vocal melody and the reverb-washed guitar lines is particularly special. Sleep in Water is the band’s upcoming LP and it’s due August 2nd on Liberation Australia.

Coma Cinema – Virgin Veins

coma cinema

Spartanburg, SC native Coma Cinema’s “Virgin Veins” reminded us immediately (but in a good non-imitative way) of Elliott Smith; melodically, lyrically, aesthetically the influence is certainly present. The warmth and humane sunniness about “Virgin Veins”, though, is why we dig it. In fact, the little guitar lead bit at 1:15 is maybe the song’s strongest locus point thematically (each note will rip you up if you’re not careful) and sets focus for the tune’s stronger second half. Coma Cinema’s Posthumous Release LP is due tomorrow (6/11).

Py – Polyethers (Jimmy Edgar Remix)

Polyethers (JIMMY EDGAR REMIX)

Warp artist Jimmy Edgar gives Py’s in-b3-rotation “Polyethers” single a big beats makeover; but in a way the maintains the ethereal other-worldly quality of Py’s original track. The contrast makes for an interesting (and worthwhile) listen.

Premiere: Johnny Stimson – Human Man (The Golden Pony Remix)

Johnny Stimson

Johnny Stimson will be releasing his Human Man EP this coming July. And to help celebrate, NYC crew The Golden Pony have remixed “Human Man” into something of an EDM machine. The Pony’s remix is part of a new set of tracks featuring versions of “Human Man” from the likes of Vice, Dirty Tees, and Holborn Circuit. As Johnny himself puts it, “the chorus hits so hard. I adore it. Strange, because I (at one point) asked my manager for an actual pony. Instead he gave me this Golden Pony remix and I’m not even mad. A+++.” There you have it folks, straight from the horses mouth. So don’t sleep on this one, press play below.

Action Bronson – The Rockers (Feat. Wiz Khalifa)

action bronson

We got those Bronsilini Marty Jannetty bars. (And yes, the former early 90’s WWF Intercontinental Champ is repeatedly ref’d in the song). “The Rockers” is previewed from Bronson and Harry Fraud’s upcoming Saaab Stories collaborative EP which is out Tuesday. Some dude called Khalifa is one this track too, remember him?

Bahamas – Please Forgive My Heart (Bobby Womack Cover)

bahamas

Bahamas records a perfect cover (and we don’t say that lightly) of the great Bobby Womack’s “Please Forgive My Heart”. Keeping intact the track’s infinite soulfulness while managing to not do Bobby hokey or corny and bringing his own life and guts to the performance, Bahamas’ cover is one of the best of the year.

Rustie – Slasherr (Flume Remix)

flume2

An interesting (yet unexpected) choice of remix source material from Flume, as the Australian producer give Rustie’s “Slasherr” the “Flume treatment”. The mix sounds (almost unbelievably exactly) like what you’d expect a Flume remix of Rustie would; the bombast, energy and get-up of Rustie’s original has been mostly retained supported by broad sound palette and visceral rap-informed beats.
