We’re liking the 60’s psych pop-inspired (think Beatles, Byrds, Hollies, etc) new track “Love Film” from Auckland-based band Sherpa. Laced top to bottom with enough Crosby/Nash-esque melodic quality and a chorus that is especially/strong head-turning, “Love Film” demands your attention ASAP.

Diplo (& MØ as well) definitely bring their A+ games as “XXX 88” is about the sharpest/freshest track on the planet or elsewhere. We love love love this beefed up horn-heavy hyper-kinetic sound on MØ.

We continue to be rather impressed w/ Keep Shelly in Athens latest troth of new music and inventive latest single “Flyaway” is no different. Built on a creative bit of vocal loop manipulation and the Tracy Thorn-esque melodic choices of singer Sarah P, “Flyaway” is another very strong track from the Greek duo. The band’s Cascine-released debut At Home is scheduled for a September 17th release.

Casket Girls is the new project of Black Moth Super Rainbow member Ryan Graveface. On single “Holding You Back”, sunny late 60’s style melodies veneer an underlying creepiness/sinisterness that reminds of one of those horror movie scenes where the little girl is all alone on the squeaky/creaking swing just as she’s about to get devoured/scarfed up by the Wolfman monster or whatever. “Holding You Back” is part of a special cassette-only release from Casket Girls due September 7.

Newcomer (& new favorite) producer Henry Krinkle mixes down Joel Compass’s “Astronaut” to its deepest, most soul-wringing rudiments. Somewhere between spell/incantation ripped from the earliest human communications and the current sound of indie R&B, Krinkle’s remix well complements Joel Compass’s visceral and very modern vocal stylings.
