Ella Eyre – Deeper

Ella Eyre

Megaton-voiced Ella Eyre, the UK songstress and vocal behind Rudimental’s #1 “Waiting All Night”, makes her solo debut with the Two-Inch Punch (!) produced mid-tempo shuffle of “Deeper”. Look for an album from Ms. Eyre next spring.

Common – I Want You (Kaytranada Edition)

KAYTRANADA by adam taubert

Dope x3000 is Kaytranada’s latest mix; this time for Common’s ’07 sleeper heater “I Want You”. Kaytranada, who’s rise in the R&B space has been massive in 2013, selects for a space funk symphony treatment for Com’s track that is brilliant/perfect. Do not miss.

Premiere: Easy Lover – All We Want (HTIMSETAN Remix)

easy love the night we breath by Lewis Heyward

A few years ago Brooklyn duo Easy Lover were just a couple of kids (vocalist Kali Holloway ex-The Affair and Day for Night and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Wimmer) tryna start a new band on Craigslist. The two met through an ad Holloway placed on the social classifieds/sociological Fourier series. Fast forward to October 2013 and the BK band are dropping new EPs, showering in profile web coverage, drinking champagne and getting B3SCI premieres. Here, Easy Lover team up w/ remixer HTIMSETAN for the B3 premiere of this lighter-than-air, sunrise on the space shuttle refashion (word to all our NASA stans in the audience) of “All We Want”.

Maribou State – Moon Circles

maribou state

“Moon Circles” is new from London-based beats-tronica duo Maribou State. The low-footprint heavy-impact jazz-inflected tones of “Moon Circles” serves as a neat counterpoint to the now crowded trend of R&B/house-influenced music coming out of the UK right now. 100% fresh. Maribou State’s “Truths” EP is out now.

Vaadat Charigim – Odisea

Vaadat Charigim - Odisea

Burger Records’ latest A+ find is Tel Aviv-located band Vaadat Charigim. The Israeli trio will release their debut The World Is Well Lost LP on Nov. 12 and the beautiful well-executed melange of distorted guitar and deep-in-the-mix vocals of “Odisea” is the LP’s new single.

Josef Salvat – Every Night

josef salvat

Team Salvat rings up another very strong addition to his (as of now) excellent three single discography. Unique in sound to previous singles anthemic “This Life” and moody leveling “Hustler”, “Every Night” is more consciously pop, more American almost country-western in its use of guitar and melody. We like this. We like a new artist w/ the palette, skill, adventurousness to keep things not only fresh stylistically as it relates to their own sound but as their sound relates to everything else out there. We love great and we love different; nothing in music (or really anything creative or otherwise) comes from outside an intersection of both things. “Every Night” will be released on Fingers & Thumbs on December 9th as part of a double A-side single.

Katy B – I Like You

Katy B

“I Like You” is the very good b-side to R&B-leaning dance artist Katy B’s upcoming “5 AM” single. And while Disclosure and AlunaGeorge and Bondax have taken many of the headlines during 2013’s revival of (good) dance music w/ soul in the UK, Katy B’s been with that sound (and writing and performing it at a very high level) for several years now. Stream “I Like You” below.

Throwback: Ken Boothe – Can’t You See

Ken-Boothe

It’s hard to resist a song that opens with lines like “can’t you see, she is lonely / leave her alone”. Sung ever so sweetly by Ken Boothe and originally released on the FAB label in 1968, “Can’t You See” is a killer gem of rocksteady splendor written by Mr. Rock Steady himself, a name and reputation that Boothe garnered from his days with Studio One. The short-lived genre of rocksteady – defined as something slower than ska and more ballad-oriented than reggae – may not get as much attention nowadays, but its influence is surprisingly far-reaching, across genres as well as generations. “Can’t You See” still sounds fresh to the ears for that very reason, in addition to being insanely catchy on its own. Tigercub – Mother

miagi

In January this year Brighton trio Tigercub released their debut single “Little Rope”, a particularly satisfying alt guitar-pop piece with lashings of bite. Things have been grunged up somewhat with new track “Mother” and it couldn’t be better. The EP is out on Monday 28th October so in the meantime give this video a whirl and sink back into ’92.
