Boreta – Honey Heart

More than just a new track, “Honey Heart” comes to us today from Justin Boreta of famed EDM group Glitch Mob — serving a specific message for the masses. The song is a Soma x Charity: water exclusive, and completely unique in that Boreta pulled cues of vocal samplings and beats amongst locals, school children and sounds of nature while on a journey to Ethiopia this past spring. Along with Soma Co-Founder Mike Del Ponte, they chronicled the tribulations of the basic necessity for clean drinking water in impoverished nations (have a look at the video below). “Honey Heart” was thus born, the track itself reflects a progressive statement for the EDM mainstream counterculture, world-music tones soar throughout the track’s universal language of contemporary dance music. “Honey Heart” was released today via Soma and for every download of this track, Glitch Mob will donate 50% of proceeds to help build a water well in Cambodia through this partnership with charity: water and Soma. Sabi – Love Sounds (Prod. Ryan McDermott)

Sabi, who is probably best known for her featured vocals on Cobra Starship’s Billboard Top 10 “You Make Me Feel” (good news is “Love Sounds” is nothing like that), channels Jhene Aiko or maybe even Janet Jackson w/ latest joint “Love Sounds”. The Ryan McDermott-produced track features a sultry vibe and R&B-melodicism w/ just enough of hip hop production elements to keep things relevant. Sabi’s upcoming 0-60 project is coming soon.

Vök – Before

The distinct voicings of Clarinets and Saxophones are becoming a pretty big deal over in Iceland at the moment with promising young trip-hop bands like Samaris and also Vök, who particular put the lesser spotted instrument to good use. Makes you wonder if Tom Waits has been hiding out in the Scandinavian country leaving a secret treasure bounty of ideas in his wake? I guess we’ll never know. Either way, “Before” is a great track. There’s clearly a bit of xx’s guitar tones present but from the second verse things really take off as Margret Ran’s stunning vocals make their mark.
