PREP – Cheapest Flight

PREP

New UK band PREP make their B3SCI and online debut with feel good late 70’s/early 80’s R&B-inspired “Cheapest Flight”. The band are comprised of an unusual lineup of a hip hop producer, opera composer, house DJ & singer songwriter which as distilled down in “Cheapest Flight” does make sense as a melange of Steely Dan meets Al Green on a cool boat with a way solid horns section that just loves to “put it down”. Listen.

Tinashe – Days In The West (Kastle Remix)

kastle

We like the intense-natured high-brow minimalism, syrupy-shuffled pace and deeply emotive synth-heavy metallic-percussion-centered instrumental dynamic of LA’s genre-defying producer Kastle on his beautifully steely new late-night zone-out dance-floor-creeper remix of Tinashe’s hit Drake cover “Days in the West”. Gallant – Weight In Gold (Ta-ku Remix)

gallanttaku

Get captivated by the smooth and melodic muted-veil percussion-heavy lounge-vibe instrumental interludes, dramatic rad-dynamic organ-led elements, and genius-slow pause-heavy stride of Ta-Ku on his newest remix of Gallant’s recent seductively languid r&b gem “Weight In Gold” which we covered here on B3 a month ago. FKJ – Drops (Feat. Tom Bailey)

FKJ

We like Darius-pal collaborator and B3-featured producer FKJ (last discussed here in conjunction with “Ô”) who recently teamed up with r&b vocalist Tom Bailey for a gorgeous-melody-driven tone-centered superb-vocals-led track called “Drops” which we think beyond excels for Tom Bailey’s luminescent deeply-soulful vocals (which go through a beautiful transformation during the song) and FKJ’s incredible brightly-laced instrumental sentiments. Awesome collaboration. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Jungle – Time (Darius Remix)

jungle

Imagine the pleasant surprise we encountered in finding a remix from new fave, Darius after just showcasing his recent superbly-captivating soundscape “Ô” created with fellow French producer and collaborator pal FKJ (French Kiwi Juice). We’re totally into Darius’ newest track, a brightly-playful soul-tinged upscale-cosmo-vibed remix of former B3SCI Records rep’ed-artist Jungle; which is a suitably smooth sentimental ride on something fantastic with its delicate (yet dramatic) piano tones, atmospheric French Touch (nu-disco) accents and sweet-natured dance floor feels. Really good stuff! Reviewed by Erin Shay.

zikomo

We can’t get our ears off of new track “Eclipse” the melodic and sunny natural-bent buoyantly-percussive multi-layered neo-soul jam from Zikomo, who we last covered on B3 for his sensational disco-leaning electro-funk dance flip of J Dilla’s whimsical, pure velvet track “Purple”.
