Dallas Cotton – Something New

dallascotton2

In July B3 featured the lavishly atmospheric jazz instrumentals and remarkable hip-hop infused production style of talented Portland producer/DJ Dallas Cotton on his ultra-smooth sultry-saxed head-turner track “Writer’s Block”. We really like Dallas Cotton’s luminous swoony-flute-enhanced dreamy-vibe textured-beats-lined new single “Something New” in which he marinates his listener in a vintage-vibe careless-breezy lonely-summer-night sentiment and creatively-showcased sultry-soulful vocal sample from r&b-heavy Major Harris. Amazing song. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

We’re psyched on the sultry-sweet keyboard-tickled 70’s-vibe easy-listening lounge dynamo called “Ive Got Your” from B3 favorite artist Kaytranada, who we last featured for his kitchy fresh-vibe jazz-infusion rip of an A+ classic back-in-the-day Hilary Duff track. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Foals x HONNE – No Place Like Spanish Sahara (Golden Vessel Remix)

goldenvessel

We love “No Place Like Spanish Sahara” the Foals and Honne hybrid track from Brisbane Australia’s talented 18-yr old producer-collaborator Max Byrne a/k/a Golden Vessel. The new track, which features a meld of Foals track “Spanish Sahara” and B3 fave “There’s No Place Like Home” (ft. JONES) by London rising-star duo HONNE, started out a year ago as simply a remix of Foals and recently morphed for the producer into something quite special. Excellent juxtaposition of elements on “No Place Like Spanish Sahara”. Sensational mix. Reviewed By Erin Shay.

Tom Misch – Clapclapclap

tommisch

We last covered B3 favorite, London multi-instrumentalist producer/vocalist Tom Misch for his Jordan Rakei-vocaled neo-soul-bented song “Wake Up This Day”. Give a listen to his newly released funky rhythm-centric instrumental gem called “Clap Clap Clap” for a vivacious-synth-layered hand-percussion-infused sonic pick-me-up that excels in that nicely-understated instrumentally-stunning Tom Misch style which we dig so much. WOKE – The Lavishments of Looking (Feat. George Clinton)

woke

Acclaimed LA artist, producer, and composer Flying Lotus teams up with Seattle rap set Shabazz Palaces and LA-bred multi-genre bass player/singer Thundercat for a new collaboration called WOKE; which according to Fly Lo in an interview with Pitchfork was named for the trio’s feelings on “dreams and stuff and astral experiences”. We’re into the eclectic-star-packed project’s very vibe-y mood-drenched atmospheric first single “The Lavishments of Light” which showcases Parliament-Funkadelic legend George Clinton. Fresh-vibe hip-hop track “For Sunny” showcases the immensely-catchy and perceptive rough-edged rhymes and slick-stylized vocal flow of Chicago artist Alex Wiley which we think combines beautifully with the dreamy eclectic-understated synth-textured production style of B3-featured radio champ producer Hippie Sabotage (covered here for his very good remix of Elliot Moss’s blog hit “Slip”).
