The Internet’s Matt Martians announced debut solo LP The Drum Chord Theory with first stream “Diamond In Da Rough”. “Diamond In Da Rough”, the track, hits a early/mid 70’s funk stride cast about breezy proto-disco guitars. The Drum Chord Theory is out January 27th and features collaborations with Tyler the Creator, Syd, Kari Faux, Steve Lacy, and more.
The Bryson Tiller tourmates THEY. fire forward potent new one “U RITE”. The track’s minimal composition and immediate flow indicate a new more direct feel to the L.A. duo’s sound that we’re most definitely into.
Anonymous Dublin-based duo St. Francis Hotel impress on “You’d Gotta Be Alive”. Constructed around a steady syncopated groove and cool minor-keyed guitar leads and harmonies, “You’d Gotta Be Alive” takes the UK dark pop sound of the past few years to a more rock and roll direction. A++.
The Pith Boys are back with a fresh new track and a slew of December East Coast dates. The new song comes in the form of “Medusa” which is yet another unexpected sound swerve from the DET duo. Featuring tremolo acoustic guitar and that Ty Dolla $ piano pad (pamp pamp pamp) GP ably wrap up the stylistic disparate-ness with a cool melodic groove that we’re into. Pith are working on new tracks at the abandoned church/recording space Assemble in Detroit (where other D artists like JMSN and Danny Brown chill) and are keen to release more music in the new year. Sample the B3 Premiere of “Medusa” below.

“Easily” is the latest from North London new favorite Bruno Major. The ease melodically with which Major operates through a comparatively difficult narrative of a relationship evolving beyond its earliest phases; creates a particularly potent juxtaposition we dig.
London-based singer Lyves a/k/a Francesca Bergami will release new EP “Like Water” early next year. The Atu-produced neo-neo-R&B of “No Love” is the EP’s first stream and it is something like perfection. Wow.
New from Israel’s BLDG5 Records (Garden City Movement) is “Dirty Lover”, the latest from Tel Aviv band Less Acrobats. On “Dirty Lover” the band neatly blend the seemingly disparate tones of Voodoo-era D’Angelo grooves and the more psychedelic tinges of the chillwave sound with a hint of added-in noisy gaze-derived guitar. It’s a cool refreshing sound that we’re really digging. Give “Dirty Lover” a spin below.
Two of our favorite emerging artists out of Australia Kllo and Mall Grab link up for an after hours remake of “Walls To Build”, from Kllo’s “Well Worn” EP. Kllo will play North American dates with Rufus Du Sol later this month and into December including December 4th at Multiply in L.A.
DMV man Goldlink marks one year gone since the release of his And After That We Didn’t Talk? project with a re-worked version of jazzy track “See I Miss Pt. 2” with a new vocal from Marsha Ambrosius (Anderson Paak’s feature is still there too).
