The Record Company is one of the LA music scene’s top recent success stories. They recently headlined the Wiltern Theater at the end of their national tour. Lead singer Chris Vos talks about all the work that went into their rise, about their music, and he also has some sage advise for up and coming musicians.

“Matter” is new from London act Leif Erikson. We’re into the track’s cool rhythm-driven and very soulful approach. The band told Clash, “We were very inspired by Curtis Mayfield’s album ‘Roots’ when thinking about ‘Matter’. He so effortlessly makes these incredible statements about life and society over these stunning, super funky musical arrangements.”

Chatted with Dave Newington who played all instruments on the critically-acclaimed “1, 2, King Fu” album. That is, except for his dad adding some violin. This was their first LA show and we hung out at The Echo before the set. Lots happened for them this year in their native UK and they’ll return to the US in March for SXSW along with a more extensive tour.

Leeds UK act Far Caspian undefeated run of gem after gem after gem remains intact with release of new stream “Blue”. A hooky bit of melodic indie, “Blue” separates itself on its cool use of atmosphere and fearlessness of reaching for the big hook.

Union Zero Records released Seattle band Red Ribbon’s Dark Party LP on Friday. “Your Car” caught our attention. The track’s artwork doubles as a for sale ad for the singer’s actual 1999 Civic (no word on whether the automobile is still available at the time of this posting). “Your Car” the song is rad, a breezy bit of rhythm-driven indie pop beamed from deep on in the reverb ether.

Brighton band LOYAL are cool as hell. There is a lot to like about new track “Patterns That Fall” but that bit that begins at 2:15, the harmonized outro, is just magic. Listen.

Swimming Tapes are back! The London via Northern Ireland band return with new single “Easy Strand”, Swimming Tapes’ first new music since 2017’s “Soft Sea Blue” EP. We’re pleased to announce the new single on B3SCI Records in collaboration with UK label Hand in Hive! Swimming Tapes, last night in London, supported HAERTS at a gig put on by Line of Best Fit and will play a run of select UK dates in November (details here). The “Easy Strand” single is out now and further details on the release can be obtained at B3SCI Records.
As the Henry Nowhere hype train rolls out the station, the accumulated tracks continue to be very strong. Latest “Good Thing” is a great iteration of the Nowhere sound, on top the PA vocals riding an instrumental of warm reverb’d guitars and hushed drums. Stream “Good Thing” below.
