Sundara Karma – Waves

sundarakarma

“Waves” is third track from Sundara Karma’s upcoming “EP 1” out February 23rd. Composed of an accessible UK rock DNA (haunting reverbed sonics, tribal-y drums, and a soaring lorn chorus), “Waves” is perhaps are favorite track from Sundara Karma thusfar.

Waterstrider – Calliope

waterstrider

New favorites Waterstrider announce debut album Nowhere Now with new track “Calliope”. On the new track the Oakland band work within minimalist rhythm and falsetto-led main melodic line that feels almost choral in the body of its sound. Nowhere Now is out 6th April in the UK and April 7th in the US.

Kid Wave – Wonderlust

KID WAVE Steve Glashier2

“Wonderlust” is new from Heavenly Recordings band Kid Wave. Produced by Dan Austin (Doves, Cherry Ghost), “Wonderlust” is a 10 out of 10 example of big disto rock with a pop-conscious hooky central core. We love the track and will be looking for Kid Wave’s upcoming debut LP, due later in 2015.

“Sleeptalk” is the b-side to UK band Osca’s forthcoming “Smoke” single. The sonorous acoustic-driven track is a strong change of gears for the rising band that showcases the band’s accomplished songwriting and versatility within the context of another stylistic idiom.

Rave’s Fave: Courtney Barnett – Pedestrian at Best

courtneybarnett

This is the first single from Courtney Barnett’s full-length followup to her EP, and it should dispel any questions about whether she can be successful long-term. Her energetic live shows have shown her to be a sick guitar player, and it was only a matter of time before she’d hit us with a banger like “Pedestrian at Best.” It’s her loudest and most intense tune to date. On the track, she maintains her style of writing earthy lyrics that come from the girl next door; “Put me on a pedestal, and I’ll only disappoint you,” she sings. Courtney is currently on the Australian Laneway Festival tour, which invades her home town of Melbourne this Saturday, February 7. She’ll undoubtedly receive quite a resounding welcome home.
