WEIRDO – Attitude

The Annie Mac-backed WEIRDO (“Butler”, “Armanio”) return with propulsive Foals-esque new single “Attitude”. Following up Hypem No. 1 “Armanio”, “Attitude” is decidedly forceful, galvanized in its main chorus hook by beefed-up disto guitars spurred on by an ascending chord progression. Listen to “Attitude” below.

TEN FÉ – Turn

“Turn” is the new track from London duo TEN FÉ. Produced by Ewan Pearson (M83, Jagawar Ma), “Turn” spins a magnetically dark set of melodies around a adeptly set exercise in 70’s pop-referencing production (a neat nexus of Fender Rhodes, far-off harmony, and that particularly 70’s use of space in framing the record’s warm-toned edges. “Turn” is out now on SOME KINDA LOVE.

Avid Dancer – You Only Like Me With The Lights Out

The L.A.-based marine turned songwriter Avid Dancer is back with his first track since last fall’s 1st Bath LP in the form of “You Only Like Me With The Lights Out”. Dressed up in reverb and a subtly anthemic chorus hook, “You Only” is a very strong return.

Saint Motel – Move

The L.A. hitmakers launch sharply syncopated return single “Move”. Saint Motel’s first new song in several months, the funky “Move” is propelled forward by some So-era Peter Gabriel-esque punch and a seemingly inexhaustible whirl of great hooky melodies. The Saintmotelevision LP is due October 21.

Max Pope – Rollercoaster

Based in Brighton and South London is Max Pope. “Rollecoaster”, the artist’s latest, has a cool stylistic bent of 60’s pop fidelity and guitar idioms mixed into an A+ plus set of hooky melodies with it’s breezy chorus being of particular strength. Stream “Rollercoaster” below.

Premiere: Shapes in Calgary – Home

Photo: Ariana Ciorciari

Shapes in Calgary is the Brooklyn-based project of singer Alyssa Ciorciari and collaborators, producer/engineer Gary Atturio (Savoir Adore, Ski Lodge), drummer Tim McCoy (Darwin Deez, Field Mouse) and guitarist Billy Libby. The BK outfit on new track “Home” operate within a wide well of melodic empathy (try not feeling at least a tiny bit more emotionally empowered after listening to “Home”) and strong songcraft (“Home” features a cool blend of sounds and styles, 80’s pop/modern indie/songwriter, cooked up in a unique way). We dig “Home” and we’re very pleased to B3 Premiere the song below.
