We love “No Place Like Spanish Sahara” the Foals and Honne hybrid track from Brisbane Australia’s talented 18-yr old producer-collaborator Max Byrne a/k/a Golden Vessel. The new track, which features a meld of Foals track “Spanish Sahara” and B3 fave “There’s No Place Like Home” (ft. JONES) by London rising-star duo HONNE, started out a year ago as simply a remix of Foals and recently morphed for the producer into something quite special. Excellent juxtaposition of elements on “No Place Like Spanish Sahara”. Sensational mix. Reviewed By Erin Shay.

Last year B3 featured Perth, Australian live electronic trio Crooked Colours for their excellent visceral-melodic soul-inspired third release “In Your Bones”. We love the group’s new ultra catchy synth-driven slow burner vox-enhanced neo-techno gem track called “Step” which captures a upbeat dance-centered edgy vibe while still remaining quite chill. If you are lucky enough to be in the area, Crooked Colours head overseas for the first time this month to perform at Culture Collide Festival in Los Angeles and CMJ Music Marathon in New York. LA male-female duo Kisses, who we last featured for “Nile” the catchy boogie-rhythm-driven “Rest in Paradise” EP 3rd single, is one of our very favorite breaking acts this year. Not surprisingly, we’re totally into their new fourth EP track called “Jam” a soulfully stylish boogie-inspired funk-guitar-grooved track which we love especially for its vibrantly-bright melodic piano chords and superb vocals. Fresh-vibe hip-hop track “For Sunny” showcases the immensely-catchy and perceptive rough-edged rhymes and slick-stylized vocal flow of Chicago artist Alex Wiley which we think combines beautifully with the dreamy eclectic-understated synth-textured production style of B3-featured radio champ producer Hippie Sabotage (covered here for his very good remix of Elliot Moss’s blog hit “Slip”). We’re floored by the fiery dance-driven attitude and ultra-mod brazen-synth-led MIA-esque-vibe of new song “Propaganda” a wildly cinematic track from Copenhagen drone-pop songstress Kill J; who wrote the song in jest of someone who told her “You will never make it in the business. You´ve got no fuckability– too much opinion”. With its vastly creative lyrics and barrage of changeable moods (from drone pop to sultry-vibes Bollywood), “Propaganda”, is one of the catchiest avant pop tracks we have heard in awhile. Ayy, this is a heavy one, isn’t it? UK upstart Matt Woods taps that affecting stable of sentiments that populates the margins around a relationship near beginning but where its eventual realization is still uncertain. Soundwise, the track reminds a bit of Aquilo with a dimension of (stick with the comparison) Curtis Mayfield “People Get Ready” melodic semblance, which is cool bit of ingredients, I think.

Liss are a Danish four-piece band who recently released their excellent debut indie pop track “Try”. We’re vibing the new song for its warmly-inviting shimmery-sugary melodic pop instrumentals and remarkably-quaint sweet-sensitive sticky-catchy honest-vibe vocals (from lead singer Søren Holm). A strong start to Liss’s career, sunny-synth-spun new one “Try” is out now on Copenhagen label Escho. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Tel Aviv band Garden City Movement announce new single “The Best of Times?”. Infusing elements of traditional music (instrumentation unique within the indie pop idiom can be found throughout), “The Best of Times?” wraps refreshing bits of arrangement around the thread of well-executed skilled pop writing. Well done.

The exciting TĀLĀ collaborates with Egyptian artists Sadat & Alaa Fifty on “Enta Ayez” (translated as “You Wish”) for third track from forthcoming “MALIKA” EP on Columbia. Incorporating elements of mahraganat, an Egyptian style, pioneered in part by Sadat & Alaa Fifty, that contains elements of traditional Sha’by or street music, “Enta Ayez” is a dope listen and a window on another thread of TĀLĀ’s wide universe of influences.
