Jay Rock – Easy Bake (Feat. Kendrick Lamar)

jayrock

Jay Rock’s new album 90059 is due out December 4th. Unsuprisingly however, a couple of the songs on the album have already been released online. “Easy Bake” is the only song off the project that features fellow Black Hippy artist Kendrick Lamar. The last verse features a cool back and forth between Kendrick and Jay that brings a new unexpected closing twist to the song. Reviewed by Jake Goldstein.

Mondaii – Waffle House Dreams

mondaii

We’re totally feeling the slow-cadence vocals and trippy-kid vibe of Atlanta-based hip-hop artist Mondaii on his track “Waffle House Dreams” which we are drawn to for Mondaii’s fresh spin on a Kendrick Lamar-school sense-of-vocal-style. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Moosh & Twist – Way Too Long

mooshandtwist

Philly duo Moosh and Twist just dropped new single “Way Too Long” and its dope. The track comes off like two songs in one with a switch up in the production towards the middle; the beat itself is otherworldly mashing up varying sounds that come together in a truly unique way. The next level is in reach for this hip-hop duo; just wait. Reviewed by Jake Goldstein

Goodbye Tomorrow – A Journey Through the Mind of a Non-Believer

goodbyetomorrow

Nobody really knows a lot about the hip-hop group out of Chicago, Goodbye Tomorrow. They first came on the scene earlier this year with “Jay Z” and followed up with their album A Journey Through The Mind Of A Non Believer which came out about a week ago. There is not one singular stand out track because the whole project is quality; but don’t take my word for it, listen for yourself. Reviewed by Jake Goldstein

Reis – Grown

reis

Reis is an up and coming artist from Indianapolis, Indiana. A friend of mine showed me his Soundcloud page and I have quickly become a fan. His new project is debut EP “Here Goes Nothing” featuring four strong track including my favorite (and featured here), “Grown.” The track is over a catchy G-Eazy beat that Reis, in his rhymes does justice towards. Fresh off of a joint mixtape with Lil B and Surf, Chance has not let us go long without some new music. Slow and jazzy beat “Israel” perfectly compliments the lyrical topic and theme Chance aims to portray in the song. Reviewed by Jake Goldstein.

Shon Hayes – Paint

shonhayes

We dig the slow drying bold-ethereals and wild centerlines of new track “Paint” in which producer Mikezilla expertly meshes a draconian-sleek metallic-vibe dub sub-current with the superb slow-paced Kid Cudi-esque rapper calm of LA artist Shon Hayes. Awesome track. Reviewed by Erin Shay.
