Love Taps’ latest single has a fresh tropical swing to it. Amidst looped vocal samples from the featured Jamaican-American singer Gale, “Should I (Torn)” turns the volume up on clanging metallic percussion, fast paced maracas, and flares of high pitched synths. The track swells, subsides, and swells again. The vocals are chopped, skewed, and reworked to form a synthetic multidimensional choir. It’s time to get up and start twirling those shoulders.

Future electronic artists Taska Black and DROELOE team up for the track, “Running Away”, featuring CUT. I’ve been following DROELOE for a while now, and at this point, I expect nothing less than excellent from him; and boy does he deliver on this track. The dream team of Taska Black and DROELOE is an immaculate one. The two artists really compliment one another to create trap-bass hybrid bliss.

Pluto is an electronic artist unlike anyone else else there right now. Seriously. This guy is breaks the mold of traditional EDM and forms a new path into a world of his own. “Nothing Wrong With Me” fuses the thoughts of your inner teenage angst with the support to be whoever you want to be. In a time when truly being yourself is more socially accepted than ever before, the theme of this track, and the vibe of this artist in general, is 100% topical.

Out now on the excellent Portuguese imprint Discotexas is Shapes On Shapes, the debut LP from LA twosome Wild & Free. Built around an atmosphere of (at least imagined for us) of a hazy mid 90’s club where EBTG is about to knock out a set, “Ferns and Stuff” is a strong slice of cinematic disco-tinged pop dropped on to us most fortuitously from a very rad 1997-origin time machine (with really great taste).
STéLOUSE covers one of 2017’s biggest tracks “Rockstar” by the dynamic duo of Post Malone and 21 Savage in the style of Soundcloud in 2014; adding woozy synths and a new vocal track (Still Haze is an MVP here) in making over “Rockstar” into a great big sounding club winner.

It’s nice when a song not only has great production, but an even greater message. “Take Me” (Feat. Ally Ahern) by Solstis is definitely one of those tracks. If you’re not familiar with these guys, they won the Discovery Project for Electric Forest in 2015 with their track “Forever In Silence.” I’m predicting big things for these Chicago natives, keep your eye out for them in the future.

After more than a year of silence, the French duo VTCN Radio finally released their debut album, Mydraise. It’s mood is mysterious and confidential, but it nonetheless delivers. I personally like how it’s not so in your face with an intense melody and love the chilled-out vibe. If you like downtempo electronic and dubstep, you’ll enjoy these slow, hypnotic tunes. I’ve been a longtime fan of Giraffage so when he came out with a new album, Too Real, I immediately streamed it. I was happy to see Giraffage move into a more poppy sound, without sounding over-commercialized. With tons of vocalists like Japanese Breakfast, Harrison Lipton, and Angelica Bess, his sound is definitely evolving. The track “Green Tea” (feat. Angelica Bess) is my personal favorite. If you’re familiar with the band Body Language, this track totally embodies that sound. Check it out!

Alternative Pop duo Tulpa and Blankts present the “Storytales” EP. A woozy 4 track project that features none other than gnash. What really makes their music stand out is Tulpa’s classical influence and production abilities that’s woven in tastefully throughout the whole project. Four Tet’s latest album is smoother than butter. The transitions are beautiful and as always, this guy delivers some major melodies. One track that especially stood out of me on his new release, New Energy is called “Daughter”. The repetitive beat creates a sense of cool collectiveness throughout the entirety of the track while the ebbing and flowing of the piano and vocals create some excitement.
