With a pair of LPs and and a bunch of other releases behind them, Taxus Baccata confirms CdM as the Italian Chillwave Ambassador, pioneering with deeply introspective and more industrial like sounds. The last song of the EP, “Finale”, is thoroughly sweet and intimate. Served cold and best enjoyed in your headphones. Pegase recently dropped this track “The Bad Side of Love” (along with an accompanying video clip) in conjunction with his new Without Reasons EP. After just a few spins we can’t get enough of this Frenchman’s saturating blend of chillwave and progressive electro pop textures. “Reasons” is a new house track from Project 46, with vocals from Andrew Allen. Andrew Allen is totally new to EDM, he is more of a Jason Mraz type of solo guitarist, but he KILLS it on this one. Besides the chill yet funky intro (and outro) that this track has, it’s a classic banger. It totally gives me that urge throw on a tank top, scream and jump around in a massive swell of people. “Reasons” should be heating up some dance floors this summer.

“Don’t Make Me Go” is a bit of a statement for a new generation of teen pop music. Its subtlety towards dubstep, the danceability, the young hearted lyrics, everything. Still, FIONA has more edge than your regular TV friendly star, with a more ironically maturish personality that these type pop stars, more often than not, seem to face as exploited by the troves in celebrity gossip. We’ll be keeping our eye on this budding next-gen’like Spears in the making.

Hot Chip whetted our appetites with the 7-minute “Flutes”, and now comes the official single “Night and Day”. It’s want you usually want in your Hot Chip: uptempo, melodic, and infinitely danceable. The album comes in June, and this band is poised to gain more and more fans. Assuming the album is strong to go along with their ace live shows, we should be dancing to these guys for the rest of the year.

Urban Cone always hits me with that Indietronica sound that I love. Danceable grooves, catchy indie lyrics, hipstery outfits, what more could an indie music fan ask for? These guys are from Sweden, and they are killing it with every song they put out. If this is the first you have heard of Urban Cone, definitely check out their tracks “Urban Photograph” and “Freak”, they are equally, if not more awesome. More than anything, this track makes me think that we should go to Sweden.
