Local Natives – I Saw You Close Your Eyes

You know Local Natives are not messing around when they put out their first single, “I Saw You Close Your Eyes, of a new album and create an entire website for the track dedicated to making sure you experience the track exactly how they envision. Head over to CloseYourEyes.net, where you can listen to the track, but only if you grant the website permission to your camera. Once permission is shown, the track won’t play until your eyes and closed, and they have to stay shut, otherwise the track will stop playing. The strong baseline of “I Saw You Close Your Eyes” creates a rooted hook that stays with you even after the track is over. The subtle sounds of the intricate congo drums keeps you wanting more. This track is one of Local Natives’ finest, delivering all the harmonies you know and love with some added texture.

Emma Jensen – Closer

Recently I’ve been obsessed with SKAM, a Norwegian teen drama that’s not as pretentious as Skins but cooler than Gossip Girl. Anyway, Norway doesn’t just produce amazing teen dramas, they also produce amazing music. Electropop artist and producer Emma Jensen dropped her first single “Closer” recently and it is pure magic. The minimalistic synths create the perfect bass for Jensen’s lovely vocals. I can’t wait to see what else 2017 brings for Emma Jensen.

Dream Beach – The Kiss of a Century (Feat. Cub)

Dream Beach’s latest track “The Kiss of a Century” (Feat. Cub) takes you on an emotional journey. Unlike the producer’s previous work, Dream Beach approached this track with more of a stripped down feel by creating a track that’s beautiful through it’s simplicities. “The Kiss of a Century” is giving me all the feels. Listen and see for yourself.

Pellican Child – Turn Me Down

Louis the Child’s secret side-project has me in awe. The authenticness of Pellican Child’s music is refreshing in a fame-obsessed world. It really feels like these guys are making music because they’re passionate about it. The groove of “Turn Me Down” is refreshingly positive and has me smiling from ear to ear.

William Bolton – NO

William Bolton is at it again with another track that’s straight fire. “No” (prod. William Bolton // Mischief Boy) hit my heart hard with the soulful keys and electric guitar riffs. The tropical undertones gives this track a carefree vibe that bring you back to the summertime. “No” reminds me of chilling out poolside with my friends sipping beers. If you’re into that sort of a vibe, check it out.

Sawyer – Ten Feet Tall

Drawing inspiration from freshman philosophy class, Coldplay, and moms in general, Saywer’s “Ten Feet Tall” is a jam you don’t want to pass up. Even though these chicks are only in college, they’ve mastered the art of indie-pop. Kel Taylor and Emma Harvey’s accented guitar riffs and charming lyrics highlight their down-to-earth Nashville that’s straight-up captivating. Jam out to this empowering track today.

MRKI – Weird Nights

Miami’s MRKI sports a sound similar to two of my favorite contemporary female vocalists, Phantogram and Purity Ring. If you’re into their edgy indie pop style you’ll definitely dig this artist’s latest tune “Weird Nights.” Stream it here and enjoy.

William Bolton – Change

William Bolton’s latest track “Change,” produced by himself, has an astounding message that’s definitely appropriate for America’s mixed responses to the election results. Bolton describes how he’s found a bright light within himself and how he’s reached a place of contentment and happiness within his own life. This song is a great reminder that change is possible and that it’s up to each of us to create positive energy within ourselves first before larger positive change can be made.
