Kodiak Soul – The Lives We Choose

Up and coming Atlanta based producer, Kodiak Soul just dropped some chill downtempo jams that I’m loving. His second EP to date “The Lives We Choose” bridges the gaps between electronic and hip-hop in a tasteful, warm way that seems perfect for any occasion. From rainy afternoons to sunny beach days, throw on this eclectic electronic EP. Stream “High Spirits” excerpted here from “The Lives We Choose” below.

Berhana – Whole Wide World

Last week, I had the pleasure of discovering Berhana at a free live-show and was more than impressed with his performance. The crowd really enjoyed his cover of “Whole Wide World,” as his beachy, laid-back vibe offered a new perspective on the track originally done by Cage The Elephant. Chill out and enjoy this track.

Kainalu – Folds Like Origami

Kainalu’s consistent production shines through on his latest track, “Folds Like Origami.” After hitting number one on Hype Machine with his last track, “Finding Peace Of Mind,” my expectations were pretty high for his next single. Luckily, they were greatly exceeded. This track is bouncey, dancey, and perfect for chilling with friends.

Beach House – Lemon Glow

“Lemon Glow” by Beach House came out of nowhere. I’m a pretty big fan of these guys but I seriously had no idea a release was on their radar. But this isn’t the fist time Beach House has surprised us with music out of the blue, like that time they released Thank Your Lucky Stars at basically the same time as Depression Cherry. But this only adds to Beach House’s ethereal and authentic nature. What I love most about Beach House is that they stay true to their sound. “Lemon Glow” fits in nicely with the collection of tracks they’ve previously released, and I can’t wait to add it to my nighttime playlist.

SAVAAN – Like Fire

Duos such as Sylvan Esso, Phantogram, and Oh Wonder have done wonderful work combining pop and electronic genres with a dark and sensual twist. Picking up where those guys left off, the Parisian duo Saavan recently unleashed some high energy vocals and production on their latest single, “Like Fire.” Expertly melding laid back and up beat vibes, this single is sure to make some sizable waves. Check it out and unleash the fire in you.

Kali Uchis – After the Storm (Feat. Tyler, The Creator & Bootsy Collins)

If you’re looking for a track to take you on a silky smooth journey, look no further. When I first heard this track, I was entranced. I honestly stopped everything I was doing and just listened. Kali Uchis’ r&b styled vocals paired with funky, soulful rhythms and bass tracks builds the most beautiful duo.

Kailee Morgue – Unfortunate Soul

19 year old alternative pop singer Kailee Morgue has done it again. “Unfortunate Soul,” off her newest EP, Medusa, is definitely my fav. Morgue successfully navigates her way between clean guitar sounds and letting her hair down, pleading and shouting “I’m an unfortunate soul. It’s just the way that I roll.” And if that chorus doesn’t make you wanna embrace the teenage angsty girl inside you, I don’t know what will.

Kainalu – Finding Peace Of Mind

If the holidays have you in a hectic state, “Finding Peace of Mind,” with Kainalu’s new track is exactly what you need. Sublime synths melodies topped with chilled-out vocals gives this track an air of relaxation that is almost unavoidable. If that weren’t enough, when that bass line hits I’m swept into a dream state every time. Kick your feet up and bump this one at your earliest convenience.

Taska Black x DROELOE – Running Away (Feat. Cut)

Future electronic artists Taska Black and DROELOE team up for the track, “Running Away”, featuring CUT. I’ve been following DROELOE for a while now, and at this point, I expect nothing less than excellent from him; and boy does he deliver on this track. The dream team of Taska Black and DROELOE is an immaculate one. The two artists really compliment one another to create trap-bass hybrid bliss.

Unlike Pluto – Nothing Wrong With Me

Pluto is an electronic artist unlike anyone else else there right now. Seriously. This guy is breaks the mold of traditional EDM and forms a new path into a world of his own. “Nothing Wrong With Me” fuses the thoughts of your inner teenage angst with the support to be whoever you want to be. In a time when truly being yourself is more socially accepted than ever before, the theme of this track, and the vibe of this artist in general, is 100% topical.

Solstis – Take Me (Feat. Ally Ahern)

It’s nice when a song not only has great production, but an even greater message. “Take Me” (Feat. Ally Ahern) by Solstis is definitely one of those tracks. If you’re not familiar with these guys, they won the Discovery Project for Electric Forest in 2015 with their track “Forever In Silence.” I’m predicting big things for these Chicago natives, keep your eye out for them in the future.
