ASAP Ferg – Tatted Angel

asapferg

A$AP Mob’s very own A$AP Ferg is gearing up to release his sophomore album Always Strive And Prosper, which is due to drop in 2016. Nothing out there indicates that this “Tatted Angel” track is directly off the album; but regardless of that it is a great song. Ferg works from strength lyrically, painting a picture in the track elaborating on fame and dealing with fake love. Reviewed by

Jeremy Zucker – Bout It (Feat. Daniel James & Benjamin O)

jeremyzucker

I found Jeremy Zucker randomly browsing through Soundcloud and I am glad I did. Jeremy’s most recent EP “Breathe” is a short six-song display of some beautifully crafted vocals with hip-hop inspired mellow beats. The featured song “Bout It” features a relaxed-vibe beat with a catchy vocal hook accompanied with a couple of smooth rap verses from the track’s feature emcees Daniel James and Benjamin O. RITUAL – Josephine (Alfa Mist Remix)

ritual2

Favorite “Josephine” from UK risers RITUAL gets a B3-sweet spot jazzy tones makeover from London-based Alfa Mist. We love how the mix’s cooled rhodes and nocturnal-feeling shuffle fit neatly around Lisa Hannigan’s original vocal. The Alfa Mist remix of “Josephine” featured here is a component part of a forthcoming remix EP from RITUAL titled “From The Wilderness To The City” and features further contributions from Jay Prince, Raye, Kevin Abstract and more.

Lucy Sunday – December Love

C8038935-1F29-4F25-9140-2115F4817CF0

The calendar appropriate “December Love” is the beautiful debut track from Los Angeles singer Lucy Sunday. Sunday’s calming alto guides the song over low-keyed drums and hushed electronics creating for a magnetic envelope of warm -sounding modern pop.

Flores – Afterglow

flores

Track (the awesome) producer Maths Time Joy will release Norway via L.A. singer Flores debut EP next year through his True Colours label. “Afterglow” is an undeniably excellent School of Aaliyah R&B track topped by expert subtle production and a star-level vocal. Well done.

dvsn – Too Deep

dvsn

How does this one go again? Info-scarce R&B artist out of Toronto dvsn author another attention grabbing new track “Too Deep”. The buzzball for dvsn has been quickly simmering, and taking a brief roll call of A-list sites now listening, we may be witness to something of a “indie moment” for the band with this track. “Too Deep” is a very good song and stylistically packaged in a way that only the best, most quintessential, 90’s R&B were crafted and produced. The arranging, production, melodic structure (etc, you name it) are all very top notch and indicative of an artist(s) with some experience and skill in the field. Look out.

LOYAL – Blue & The Green

unnamed (2)

“Blue & The Green” is the very strong debut track from Good Years (BANKS, Lil’ Silva) signee LOYAL. An essentially rhythmic indie pop song embellished by a transporting whirl of electronics and anchored with a thoughtful lyrical narrative, “Blue & The Green” is an impactful opening statement of intent from an artist we’re very keen to hear more from. A++
