We’re in the land of the free where everything costs.
Nascent Antwerp BE band Felix Pallas captures an artful anthemic sound (that little insturmental hook/break that first enters the track at 0:45 is very impressive) on potential breakout/crossover new track “Curse”.
Twin Cities producer SU NA heads up an evocative bit of neo-neo-R&B on “Complexion” featuring a quieting vocal from Dizzy Fae that we love. SU NA’s “Surface” EP is available now.
Out digitally today on Casablanca Records is “Holding Back” the new Gallant-featuring single from London UK artist SG Lewis. Author of one of our favorite tracks from last year “Warm”, “Holding Back” hits, with its rapid-fire barrage of hook-y elements, a like level of pop songwriting skill. Reading UK trio Palm Honey mix-up potent hook-y melodics with big fuzzy syncopated guitar riffing for impactful summer single “You Stole My Blackout”.
Madrid weirdos The Parrots announce debut Los Niños Sin Miedo LP with new track “Jame Gumb”. The hulking number built around a mechanized rhythmic rattle and surf rock guitars might remind stylistically a bit of The Cramps or Gun Club.
“Set The Fire” is new from dream pop-peddling London outfit Swimming Tapes. Following up the also great “Souvenir”, “Set The Fire” captures the elan and excellent sense of atmosphere that, in part, made bands (which are likely influences) like The Church and The Simple Minds great. Stream the very good “Set The Fire” below.
