So we’re fans of LA collective Saint Motel, but we never saw a track like this coming. “At Least I Have Nothing” is the band’s new self-released single expected November 28. With a memorable chorus hook that draws you in and gets you moving, you’ve likely just found a new jam for your next mix. (Rolling Stone)
Oakland’s Trails And Ways seems like a fusion band which hasn’t fully fused yet, but there’s so much talent here they get a free pass for any genre-picking they may be guilty of. Their new EP, Temporal, has some of the grooviest album art I’ve seen in a while— a true homage to art deco with the abstract lettering and Mayan color palette. “Chills” descends into muzak for a few seconds, but they more than make up for it with the Joao Gilberto inspired “One Note” and a lushly produced cover of M83’s “Midnight City”. However, “No Wisdom” is the star of this EP, featuring one of the most thoughtful arrangments I’ve heard in awhile. And the syncopated vocal is totally boss. A little more time in the kiln and these cats will be a band to watch for in 2k12.
Here’s what Wolfmother’s second album should have sounded like. Goldsboro is an LA 3-piece, and this smoker was brought onto my Moheak Radio Music Meeting show by bassist Scott Ford of the Twilight Singers. It got a unanimous thumbs-up. We loved the energy, and you can never go wrong with killer guitar hooks.

Dallas rapper Jay Fresh continues to step his game up. On “Amazing”, JF hops on a vibed out Pretty Lights beat and smashes it. Taking just the right pace of flow and rhythm of diction and letting the instrumentals breathe in/out themselves, Jay does just the right amount of work on top the track. Great.
Building on the momentum of blogoverse smashes like “Dancing With The DJ” and “Brightside”, The Knocks boys ready their latest “Magic”. The midtempo number’s got enough of that signature Knocks shuck and jive, that’ll have those knees knockin’ and toes tappin’ even to 118 BPM. p.s. You may recognize the vocals of British dance singer Gary Go from Benny Benassi’s “Cinema”.
Everything this guy puts out just absolutely kills it (If you’re not hip, you need to familiarize yourself ASAP). The reggae-styled “When Will They Learn” is certainly no different. LB’s track record is pretty much flawless but “When Will They Learn” might be our favorite song of his yet.

Red Kites are a four piece rock band from Guildford, Surrey UK and their sharply melodic single for “Montreal” is really really good. Trust us. Don’t sleep on this one.
An ambitous new worldly jam from a bloke that you know studies electronic music at another level. “Ergo” can wear lots of hats but it still maintains all the vital elements of it’s own identity. A new producer to be on the look for.
So Cults are prepping this hip hop mixtape (cause they’re big hip hop stans and everything) and the first sample they’ve released on their public is this new mix for “Bad Things” featuring Gary, IN (shout to Boder) rapper Freddie “Gangsta” Gibbs. You can usually can count on Gibbs to pick good features and “Bad Things” does play down pretty solid. Give it a spin below.
