Temples – Strange Or Be Forgotten

UK psych crew Temples share second stream from forthcoming sophomore album Volcano. “Strange Or Be Forgotten” catches the Midlands band in stride with the track a strong example of the band’s hooky big-sounding psych-pop dashed with a tiny bit of crossover/dance-y rhythm to keep things moving. Volcano is out on March 3rd on Heavenly.

Julie Byrne – I Live Now As a Singer

Basin Rock will release Julie Byrne’s Not Even Happiness LP on Friday (Jan 13). “I Live Now As a Singer”, ostensibly the LP’s final preview stream, has a cinematic, quietly towering, hymnal quality to it that stopped us straight away. The track moves sort of like a processional inside a kind of far-off dream patiently ebbing about it’s 4:04 duration with a cool tranquil beauty. Stream “I Live Now As a Singer” below.

Lowly – Prepare the Lake

Danish band Lowly preview skittering new track “Prepare the Lake” from forthcoming debut LP. “Prepare the Lake” is cast around a shell of subtle tremolo guitar and synth washes to a cool juxtaposition of a flowing main vocal melody from singer Soffie Viemose and motion-filled rhythm track. Lowly’s LP Heba is out February 10th on Bella Union.

Premiere: LANNDS – Metanoia

We’re very pleased to begin 2017 with a premiere of “Metanoia”, the new track from Jacksonville artist Rania Woodard a/k/a LANNDS. Excerpted from the 22 year old’s forthcoming debut EP ‘Wide Awake in a Sleepy World’, “Metanoia” traverses a dreamy sound terrain framed by airy synths, a circadian-feeling groove and Woodard’s float-on-top-the-mix vocal. The ‘Wide Awake in a Sleepy World’ EP is due February 10th.

GEMS – Blow Out The Light

D.C. duo GEMS are back with their first new music since debut Kill the One You Love LP. “Blow Out The Light” is an excellent quieting bit of supremely constructed indie pop that picks up in terms of its quality just where Kill the One You Love left off. Stream “Blow Out The Light” below

Team Picture – Potpourri Headache

Leeds upstarts Team Picture slug out hulking excellent new exercise in far-off guitar music on “Potpourri Headache”. Set on a circadian groove of considerable punch, “PH” is a multi-layered psych-ish experience on to itself anchored by a great recording and some inventive instrumentation ideas. Well done.
