Right on. Of we course, we love this! The latest remix entry from one Tom Misch is a re-imagining of Michael Kiwanuka’s 10-minute opus “Cold Little Heart” complete with a pitched-up main vocal, jazzy guitars, and a cooled-out vaugely house-y rhythm track. Michael Kiwanuka’s Love & Hate LP is available now.
Sylvan LaCue and Saba will link up beginning March 3rd in Seattle for a month-long North American tour (dates below). Here, the two emcees on the up trade bars over LaCue’s jazzy vibed-down original instrumental in an A+ collab.

Out now on Distant Hawaii is the “All the Reasons” EP from French producer Sweely. A sharp mix of after hours synth tones juxtaposed to beefed up club-y drums “All the Reasons” (featured here) is the EP’s title track.
New track “Foul Play” teams up Australian producer Mookhi with vocalist Billy Fox. For “Foul Play”, Mookhi selects for a quieting whiz of cool electronics steadied by a hushed rhythm track groove; vocalist Billy Fox’s main melody lines are similarly chilled and fluid. “Foul Play” is sampled from Mookhi’s forthcoming “Lost & Found” EP, due on February 24th.
Wait…. wait… be easy…. yes, there it is. “DO IT” (all caps), new from French musician/magician Dabeull, manages a sun-drenched talkbox/vocoder-y main vocal around a primary guitar figure that reminds a bit (may even be a sample of) CRU’s classic 90’s jam “Just Another Case”. The resulting product of that above equation is a listen that is as cool as it is smooth.
One of the best pop songs thusfar of this new and weird year of 2017 is the hooks-barrage that is “Off My Mind”, the new track from Brooklyn artist Aaron Taos. “Off My Mind” follows on from Taos’ also strong “Guits” EP from 2015.
Swimming Tapes released on Friday their debut “Souvenirs” EP on Hand in Hive. The dreamy final reveal from the EP is “Cameos”, a slightly beachside-flavored diversion in the ST sound built around a very strong (and quite catchy) main chorus hook (quite truthfully much of the track feels like one chorus after another chorus after another, it’s that anthemic!). “Souvenirs” is out now on Hand in Hive.
“Good Love” new from Leeds UK songwriter Dom Robinson is an exquisite bit of songwriting. Taking on a haunting, poignant character with it’s spare instrumentation and whirl of vocal multi-tracks, “Good Love” hits a number of quite moving moments on its way to a very impressive overall listen. Spin “Good Love” below.
