Premiere: The Night VI – Wonderlust (Acoustic)

thenightvi

The great Duly Noted Records (IYES, Black Honey) ready the July 22nd release of “Wonderlust” the new single from new favorites The Night VI. We’re pleased to premiere this recent acoustic session of “Wonderlust” that is an excellent showcase for the star-level vocals of singer Sophie-Rose Harper.

Commenting on “Wonderlust”, Rose-Harper talked about the track’s creative inspiration, “”Wonderlust is about waiting for true love & a tale of a perfect encounter. My fascination with American Western-style B movies inspired the song”; continuing, “Set in a downtown dive bar filled with junkies and jukeboxes I imagined a woman possessed by her drunken fantasies that have spun out of control and her eccentricity is reeking of desperation. So following in the old country tradition it’s an upbeat song with a sad and bitter core.”

Sample the B3 premiere of “Wonderlust”‘s acoustic version below.

Saint Pepsi – Fiona Coyne

saint pepsi

Newly signed to the dope Carpark Records, Saint Pepsi (aka Ryan DeRobertis) strikes the perfect type of throwback sound to satisfy any such massive craving. Most recently St.Pepsi delivered his otherworldly funkified spin on Beat Culture’s “Drifter feat Physic Twin”, and here continues his path towards monsta success with “Fiona Coyne”. Expect big things to come from this young 21 year old. By Brian Litwin

Vanic X machineheart – Circles

vanic circles

Bring on the summer jams! Enter yet another mix with bountiful layers of sunny synths; this flip from Vanic on the newcomers machineheart’s “Circles” has recently shot to the peak of blogosphere. The young Vanic is definitely a producer to keep an eye on. Kudos for the tune! By Brian Litwin

Zola Blood – Grace

zolablood

“Grace” is the debut single from nascent London UK beats band Zola Blood. Constructed around a very timely rhythm and synth heavy supporting structure, “Grace” gets a bit more exploratory and unique in the ambitiousness (in sprawling indie pop terms) of some of the song’s melodic choices (a more spacious refrain here, a less syncopated countermelody there, etc). In summary, “Grace” is a very good very relevant song from a band that possibly have the writing toolkit suitable for longevity.

Usher – She Came To Give It To You (Feat. Nicki Minaj)

usher

Mr. Yeaaah Man, and author of one 2014’s best singles “Good Kisser”, is on to another something good with new one featuring Nicki Minaj, “She Came To Give It To You”. Working in a similar mid 70’s Curtis/Marvin palette as the aforementioned “Good Kisser”, “She Came To” wins on its A+ rhythmic sensibility and pocket perfect melodies. We love it.

James Vincent McMorrow – Cavalier (MOORS Remix)

mcmorrow

JVM’s melodically wonderful “Cavalier” was one of our favorite tracks of last year. Here L.A. duo MOORS fashion “Cavalier” around a great eased-back R&B beat that makes the song brand new (and great) all over again. James Vincent McMorrow’s Post Tropical is out now on Vagrant.

Naomi Punk – Firehose Face

naomipunk

The dingy minimalist guitar music of “Firehose Face” is previewed below from Olympia WA band Naomi Punk’s forthcoming Television Man LP. Gutty, dissonant and spare “Firehouse Face” is as refreshing as it is deep in the knees visceral. Television Man is out August 5th on the great Captured Tracks.
