Neon Gold band CATHEDRALS announced today their self-titled debut EP out September 8th. The kinetic rhythm pop of “OOO AAA” is headlined by singer Brodie Jenkins’ star-level R&B-flavored vocal and is another high caliber feather in the consistent San Francisco band’s singles discography.

Sundara Karma – Indigo Puff

sundarakarma

“Indigo Puff” is a brand new track from UK buzz band Sundara Karma. The Chess Club alums are again outfitted on “Indigo Puff” with the same quality of soaring anthemic choruses and tinges of more obtuse UK indie as on breakout track “Cold Heaven”. Get yr hands on this one before Zane Lowe does.

Galimatias – Night Owl

galimatias2

Galimatias is one of our favorite artists in any genre right now. The Danish producer continues to push forward his far-flung and cinematic sounds into new palettes and spaces with each successive release. New one “Night Owl” is much like the name on its tin would indicate quite nocturnal sounding as the track balances deep house-inspired electronics with hushed jazz and hip hop-referencing rhythms.

Astronauts, Etc. – Gravity

astronauts

“Gravity” is the new release from Astronauts, Etc’s upcoming “Sadie” EP. The piano-driven “Gravity” is particularly interesting for its cool jazzy modalities and its very strong melodic styling. The Oakland-based Astronauts, Etc’s “Sadie” EP is out September 6th on Hit City USA.

The Dirty Nil – Guided By Vices

dirtynil

We love The Dirty Nil. The Canadian maniacs have a new single out on Fat Wreck Chords and the disto punisher b-side (a/w “Cinnamon”) “Guided By Vices” (brand new on Soundcloud today) rules.

Grace Mitchell – Broken Over You

gracemitchell

The young (she’s only 16!) Grace Mitchell stands out among the boundless ocean of new alternative-leaning pop songstresses on the strength of her track’s writing and quality. “Broken Over You” is constructed and crafted for not only the most inclusive consumption but gets there in innovative unexpected ways. The track’s soaring refrain and sturdy dynamics are framed in a way that feels unique keeping for the song a genuine dynamic.

Silk Rhodes – Pains

silkrhodes

Silk Rhodes are a new addition to Stones’ Throw’s excellent line-up of artists and they debut this week with the spare and affecting soul of “Pains”. “Pains” is not alt R&B or neo R&B it’s a classic sounding record buoyed by one of the most heart-wringing organ tones you’ll ever hear on wax.

DOROTHY – Wild Fire

Dorothy

In what seems to be a slap in the face to all other female fronted acts, LA based Dorothy doesn’t minx words or attitude. This collective want to rock and party right fucking now. Taking the LA scene by storm and grabbing the attention of almost the whole music industry with the southern-fried “After Midnight”, Dorothy return with “Wild Fire”. The tune is another gun-slingin’, face melting rock track that should be played at full volume. Listen below. Review By Brian Litwin
