Seinabo Sey – Pistols at Dawn

seinabosey

Seinabo Sey, the much buzzed about Swedish songstress, is impressive again on brand new “Pistols at Dawn”. The sturdy and strong “Pistols at Dawn”, which is taken here from Seinabo’s upcoming “For Madeline” EP for Virgin Records, is potent for its galvanizing and triumphant qualities; one of the best palettes/formulas for standout dark pop.

Oxford Drama – Asleep/Awake

oxforddrama

Wroclaw, Poland band Oxford Drama’s “Asleep Awake” is the latest release in Turntable Kitchen’s awesome Pairings Box series (home to records from GEMS, CATHEDRALS, Local Natives, BASECAMP, etc). “Asleep/Awake” takes its cues in mood from cool and soulful acts like Quadron and Esthero while instrumentally communicating a more direct almost dance-driven aesthetic. A+++

Premiere: BASECAMP – Shudder (Howie Lee Remix)

9752c

Nobody beats BASECAMP. The Nashville trio wow’d us last year with tracks like “Emmanuel” and “Rydia” and took the upper reaches of the Hypem charts with their recent remix for Sia’s “Chandelier”. Here, Chinese producer Howie Lee outfits BASECAMP’s latest hit track “Shudder” with a modern electronic instrumental textured with hints of house. Enjoy the B3SCI premiere of Howie Lee’s remix for BASECAMP’s “Shudder” below and look for a new EP from the band later this year.

COMPNY – Something to Give

compny2

The anthemic yet restrained (a very potent combination) “Something to Give” is the second half of COMPNY’s debut AA-side single with “Begging Me to Come Back”. The melodic quality and high-level caliber of arrangement mark of “Something to Give” again mark COMPNY as a band with considerable talent and promise. “Begging Me To Come Back/Something Had To Give” sees a release September 15th on 203 Recordings/Believe Recordings.

George Maple – Talk Talk

georgemaple2

The new Future Classic single for the month, and possibly one of their best releases to date, comes from a familiar face in Aussie songstress George Maple. “Talk Talk” is everything you’d want from this newest Future Classic signing. With what sounds like a little help from label-mate Flume (unconfirmed) on the beat, the pulsing bass over mesmerizing synths of “Talk Talk” really catches the ear. George Maple’s EP “Vacant Space” is due out in October. Reviewed by Brian Litwin
