Jerome LOL makes a surprise return today with an A+ new remix for Russian band Pompeya. On the mix, LOL dials up a brooding set of synocpated electronics and creeper but still highly danceable beats. Pompeya’s Real LP is out May 5 on No Shame
Ta-Ku, the Australian Soulection affiliate who’s soulful late night R&B compositions have led to runaway success on Hypem and Soundcloud returns today with a bit of some support from two Michigan natives, JMSN & Sango. “Love Again” is really fantastic as Ta-Ku’s feel for track construction blends almost symbiotically with JMSN’s supremely melodic vocal; it’s as if Ta-Ku is conducting the vocal and each of its subtle dynamic movements live inside each play of the recording. Really great.
“Like a Wave” is new from Dim Mak artist Overjoy. Sleek in its construction and subtle in its melodic quality, “Like a Wave” is, despite its semi-corny lyrical content (“ride you like a wave??”) an A+ exercise dark electronic pop.

Bruce Rave chilled with Catfish and the Bottlemen’s Van McCann for a second time during South By Southwest this year. Lots had happened since their initial chat back in November before the band’s LA debut. Catfish just drew 10,000 in London, and their “Kathleen” notched a top 15 peak on the US alternative charts. They talk about all this, converting the originally negative UK press, how life has changed with the success and constant touring, new music about to be recorded, how he handles death of loved ones, and much more.
Check out Bruce’s “Go Deep” show on Fridays 1-3 pm Pacific, 4-6 pm Eastern, 9-11pm GMT. Also listen to past shows at Bruce’s blog and follow Bruce on Twitter.
The lazily paced, lightly hushed down-tempo undertone and boldly emotive synth accoutrements combine beautifully with a gorgeous vocal dynamic on new track “Tide Teeth” from Reno’s low-profile indie band, Night Beds, who are a featured artist on the Dead Oceans Label.
