Crooked Colours – Step

crookedcolors

Last year B3 featured Perth, Australian live electronic trio Crooked Colours for their excellent visceral-melodic soul-inspired third release “In Your Bones”. We love the group’s new ultra catchy synth-driven slow burner vox-enhanced neo-techno gem track called “Step” which captures a upbeat dance-centered edgy vibe while still remaining quite chill. If you are lucky enough to be in the area, Crooked Colours head overseas for the first time this month to perform at Culture Collide Festival in Los Angeles and CMJ Music Marathon in New York. Excellent tune. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Panama – Jungle (GXNXVS Remix)

B3 fave producer GXNXVS (Genius), who recently remixed Theophilius London’s banger drum-inspired Kanye-produced dance track “Tribe” into a strikingly effervescent cool-as-rain R&B jam, wows us again with a beautifully simple bass-driven syrupy r&b mood-altering spin of B3-lauded Panama track “Jungle”. Amazing vibes. Reviewed by Erin Shay.

Rave’s Fave: Skinny Lister – Trouble On Oxford Street

Skinny Lister

If you’re a fan of The Pogues, you’ll probably be a fan of “Trouble On Oxford Street” by the UK band Skinny Lister. From the rapid drum intro to the end, it’s a fun track that allows pub rock to keep its good name. Yes this song sounds oh so British. The band is currently touring the US with Frank Turner. I’ll be at the October 22 show at LA’s Mayan Theater. Reviewed by Bruce Rave.

Premiere: Canary – Here We Go

Australian band Canary follow up their Triple J-supported Hypem-charting “Women’s Business” with the inventively-arranged acoustic pop of “Here We Go”. Constructed of a mortar of neat pop songwriting and a syncopated barrage of polyrhythms, “Here We Go” is particularly special for its unique sonorousness and its distinctive and effective use of vocal harmony (and beyond, the instrumental arranging here is next level too). We’re very pleased to premiere “Here We Go”, the second single from Canary’s forthcoming sophomore LP, I Am Lion.

Beach Baby – Limousine

beachbaby2

“Limousine” is new from B3SCI Records alums (now signed to Handsome Dad) Beach Baby. “Limousine” which is out November 16th, takes a bit more muscular edge to initial tracks “No Mind No Money” and “Ladybird” riding a construction of beefed up rhythm guitars, broader in sound drums and a little more monochromatic melody. It’s a cool swerve in sound for the band who are very obviously primed for major success.

KYLE – Remember Me (Feat. Chance the Rapper)

kyle

Kyle’s SMYLE album is due out today and it couldn’t be more highly anticipated. Kyle posted another single on Tuesday to his Soundcloud “Remember Me?” featuring Chance the Rapper. It’s a soft hitting piano beat that shows Kyle’s sensitive side, which I hope to find more of on the album’s other tracks. Reviewed by Jake Goldstein.
