SBTRKT collaborator Fabiana Palladino links up with another SBTRKT pal Sampha for minimalist indie pop of “For You”. Producer Sampha is stylistically present on “For You” in the track’s soulful visceral quality and its more adventurous arrangement choices with Fabiana’s R&B-y but restrained vocal (this is not another singer trying to duplicate Jessie Ware) the track’s star attraction. “For You” is forthcoming on the great Double Denim Records.

The seemingly tireless Kaytranada latest remix trophy is Tensnake & Jamie Lidell’s electro-soul single “Feel of Love”. Kay selects for an outfit of spacefunk that is an ideal complement to the timbre of Mr. Lidell’s voice, hand in glove. Kaytranada’s “Feel of Love” remix is part of a new remix package for Tensnake’s track which also includes remixes from Joe Goddard, Boys Noize & Djedjotronic and Drew Hill and it’s due August 26th on Virgin.

The mega-talented Josef Salvat returns today with the excellent dark pop of “Shoot and Run”. While slightly more robust in its arrangement and maybe a bit more accessible around its edges, “Shoot and Run” is another brilliant entry in the young Australian’s spotless record of terrific singles. Framed within verses of dramatic strings and lurching electronics is “Shoot and Run”‘s exultant, infinitely singable, and starmaking choruses. A+++++++

Hotly tipped Swedish/Australian girls and Gap Ad vets Say Lou Lou link up w/ Norwegian production starman LINDSTRØM for new single “Games for Girls”. Constructed around a more immediate more pop-accessible instrumental than still great but blog-poppier tracks like “Julian” or “Peppermint”, “Games for Girls” is infectious. “Games for Girls” is excerpted below from Say Lou Lou’s debut LP Lucid Dreaming, due February 2015 on Columbia.
“Hot Box”, new from L.A. emcee Bobby Brackins, has hip-hop radio hit marked all up and down it. From it’s “2 On”-styled off-beat instrumental to its mainstream radio-flavored hook from rising songstress Mila J of “Smoke Drink Break-up” fame. Give “Hot Box” your time below.
