New duo from Salt Lake City Oh, Be Clever launch forward strong pop sortie “Tosh”. The team of former scene rivals-turned-allies Brittney Shields and Cory Scott Layton, Oh Be Clever, as is evident on “Tosh”, deal in infectious and unabashedly big pop songwriting.
Vocalist Brittey recently had this to say about “Tosh” and it’s genesis as a song:
“’Tosh’ was written while we were on tour earlier this year. We had a break in New Mexico, where we stayed with Cory’s brother whose name happens to be Tosh. Touring in a tiny car together for days on end can be a little grueling, and sometimes the writing process gets a little blocked. When those songs that just sort of “fall out” of your brain happen, you have to roll with it and let the song unfold. It’s a snarky way of telling that person you’re stuck on to pack their bags, so to speak, and get out of your brain so you can move on. Tosh was one of those songs that felt like it dropped right out of our heads, and I have to say it’s one of the most fun songs to perform live.”
Enjoy the B3SCI Premiere of “Tosh” below and be on watch for new material coming from the band soon.
The great L.A. band Saint Motel release their “My Type” EP in just a few short days, and to mark that extended-play’s imminence the band debut its’ third track “Cold Cold Man”. An impeccably crafted bit of A+ indie pop writing, “Cold Cold Man” showcases the band at their hook-laden and enormously catchy best. Sample below the B3 Premiere of Saint Motel’s “Cold Cold Man” and look for the “My Type” EP August 17th in the UK and 19th in the US.
South London pop outfit Kero Kero Bonito traffic in video game beats and bilingual (English & Japanese) M.I.A.-esque melodic structures. “Sick Beat” is the trio’s latest track from the forthcoming Intro Bonito mixtape for Double Denim Records.
Aside from the whole oppressive air pressure and scare oxygen supply “Ocean Floor Kisses” do sound quite appealing and so is Danish star producer Galimatias’ low-touch new track.
The ever-consistent Snakehips remains undefeated and still defending champ on brand new mix for buzz artist RAURY and “Cigarette Song”. If you’re familiar with/into the Snakehips’s style of easy R&B-esque beats with pop-informed electro touches then you’re already into this new one. Spin it below.
Fave producer Black Metaphor sets the instrumental for the 70’s cinema rap of Young Jeezy’s “Beautiful”. The three vets trade hooky bars on top a “Gonna Fly Now/Summer Madness”-styled and one of the coolest tracks in hip hop this year. Jeezy’s Seen It All LP is out September 2. “Mirror mirror in my garage, tell me which lambo to park at B3SCI”.
Traces, a modern pop/R&B band out of Guildford UK that we posted back in February for the stunning debut “A Place To Call Home”, release a second, equally strong, track today “Obstacles”.
