Lana Del Rey – West Coast (Grades Remix)

lanadelrey2

Mrs. Del Rey gets a remix amuse bouche from doting R&B/disco-flavored producer Grades on spotless mix for “West Coast”. Tinkling electric pianos, buffed-down breaks, washes of sexy harp sounds; if Michael McDonald 2014’s life had a sound, Grades could reach it. “Down on the West Coast, they love their tank tops.”

Chris Malinchak – Stranger (Feat. Mikky Ekko)

mikkyekko

Pete Tong MBE dropped the exclusive brand new Chris Malinchak firebomb on his Radio 1 show tonight with “Stranger”. The song which features the MJ-esque melodic stylings of Mikky Ekko is a steady 3:42 of funky summertime pop sure to rudder dance floors for months to come on both sides of the Atlantic. We “Stranger” 100%.

Knox Brown – Harry’s Code

knoxbrown

A writer for Jay Z, Mary J. Blige and Aloe Blacc, Jamaican-born/British-raised Knox Brown brings those A-list battlefield-forged songwriting quality to the fantastic debut “Harry’s Code”. Soulful, visceral, and immediate in ways that lesser artists can only hope to catch up to and emulate six months down the road for now, “Harry’s Code” is a very accomplished piece of writing you need to listen to right now.

Premiere: Saint Raymond – Everything She Wants (Star Slinger Remix)

saintraymond

Fresh off the debut of his iTunes UK Top 5 EP “Ghosts” earlier this week, Nottinghamshire indie mega-tracks merchant Saint Raymond announces new remix with Prince Jet Jam Star Slinger for single “Everything She Wants”. After touring Europe with heavyweights HAIM and releasing his also excellent “Young Blood” EP in the last run of months, the 19-year old songwriter’s arrow continues to point clearly up. Star Slinger’s outta space refix combines many of the trop-house elements and breezy but juiced up breaks that have seeped into Slinger’s latter days modern sound.

Orchid Mantis – Late Summer Sun

orchidmantis

Orchid Mantis is the project of Atlanta-based songwriter/found sound collector Thomas Howard. The Crosby, Stills and Nash as recorded on the bridge of a wooden sailing ship sonics of “Late Summer Sun” create an engaging/magnetic dynamic against Howard’s adventurous and great melodic swerves. One of our favorite tracks of the year so far.

Olivver – Attica ’71

olivver

Former Neighbourhood drummer Bryan Sammis makes his solo B3 debut as Olivver with single “Attica ’71”. Focused around a similar in quality and composition to first wave-NBHD rhythm track, “Attica ’71” is propelled forward by Sammis’ A+ melodic construction and early Phoenix-esque (“Everything Is Everything”, “Run Run Run”, etc) modern funk-injected sensibilities in song’s immediate web of catchiness and hooks.
