The mighty Melker turns in an A+ vibed-down “unplugged” (Melker recorded the piano and also did the beatboxing on the mix) remix of Aaliyah’s modern classic cooler “Rock The Boat”. Love love love.

The compactly gritty “Come A Little Closer”, the lead single from their upcoming follow-up to their breakthrough 2011 Thank You, Happy Birthday LP, hits (in tone, instrumentation, style, etc) just right. The track’s standout pitch-perfect production (from Jay Joyce) is particularly notable. We’re definitely into it.

In a completely out of nowhere collaboration UK producer FTSE links up with Atlanta-based producer/MC/singer of Trinidad James’ “Southside” fame for the beautifully melancholic “St. Tropez”. The midlands-based FTSE is on some kind of a run right now, turning in one must listen gem after another. With the release of today’s “St. Tropez” single, FTSE also announced a new EP today, the September 30th-due “FTSE II”.

Irish band Classroom Battles mix up an engagingly unique mix of sounds on single “Call To Arms”. The track’s main engine is a neat interplay between choral voices and a minimalist drum machine’d beats well complemented by singer Tigrane Minassian’s sort of equally far-off and wistful but emotive near vocal melody. “Call To Arms” is previewed here from Classroom Battles’ “This Week’s Question” EP which is slated for a September release.
