Stalley – BCGMMG

stalley

Stalley goes in again for the 330 on new track “BCGMMG”. Produced by Block Beattaz, “BCGMMG” is another in the Massillon rapper’s ongoing #songsbystalley Savage Journey to the American Dream project (which we couldn’t be more psyched for) build-up series. Can’t wait to hear our hometown dude on some of those A-level Maybach $$$$ beats. #330.

tree – Universal (Feat. Ariel Thiermann)

By Chris Gedos

tree

Our homie tree keeps the hits rollin’ with “Universal” (feat. Ariel Thiermann). The song, which also features Finn Rivera and Shelf Nunny, is captivating from its inception, clear and concise proof that previous offerings “People” and “This is Separation” were not simple flukes. Per his Soundcloud: “This track is sending positive energy to the beautiful people of planet earth.” If that’s not a reason to partake in the process of creative actualization, I don’t know what is! tree sings songs about the slow movement of time and the presence of a universal consciousness. And then at 2:10 he starts riffing off Bon Iver. #sickasfuck

Niki and the Dove – DJ Ease My Mind (Jakwob Remix)

nikiandthedove

YES! This is the real one right here. Jakwob has delivered an absolute gem with this new remix for Niki and the Dove. Opting for a slow burning, shake-you-right-into-your-guts submarine feel for the track, the UK producer has maybe his finest work to date here on “DJ Ease My Mind”. Do not miss it.

Tashaki Miyaki – If Not For You (Bob Dylan)

tashakimiyaki

California duo Tashaki Miyaki do a rainy-day 50’s pop/early 90’s alterna-gaze hybrid version of Uncle Bob’s 1970 song “If Not For You”. The song’s warm but far-off female vocal and laid back production values will definitely remind of Mazzy Star. Listen.

Kofi Black – I Love You Crazy (Feat. Raekwon)

kofiblack

R&B newcomer Kofi Black gets a co-sign here from the Chef on new track “I Love You Crazy”. From its deep on-the-ones piano tones to its just-heavy-enough for radio claps on the twos, “ILYC” has heavy rotation on hot R&B radio written all over it. Sandwiched between that hour’s fourth of spin of “Rack City” and third of “The Motto”, “I Love You Crazy” should play down just fine.

Capital Cities – Lazy Lies

By Jon Herriot

capitalcities

When LA duo Capital Cities puts out new music, I have come to expect huge Electro-Rock tracks. This song shows a softer side of their music which works surprisingly well for them. Without the booming beats they have to rely a bit more on songwriting and vocals here, but us at b3Sci are feeling it nonetheless. This one comes off their recently released “Safe and Sound” EP.

The Hairs – I’ve Been Working Out

By Chris Gedos

thehairs

Stereogum unveiled last week The Hairs’ new single, “I’ve Been Working Out”, a song with such a facile understanding of the canon it’s deserving of several encores within the blogosphere. The refrain lyric, “I’ve been working out, I get to wear a Jesus crown”, is rooted in the iconoclasm and sacreligiousness which has permeated Rock since Bill Haley. Be sure to check their bandcamp for a collection of ditties which clock in at less than two minutes, in preparation for the I’ve Been Working Out EP, out Feb. 21st on WeePOP! Records.

Shlohmo – wen uuu (Teebs Mix)

teebs

Brainfeeder representative Teebs mixes down Shlohmo’s brill “wen uuu” track. Opting for a smooth 808-esque rhythm track and a subtly mixed sultry vocal sample (Is that our girl Tracy Thorn?), Teebs takes “wen uuu” DEEP. Look out for Shlohmo’s “Vacation” 12” with remixes from Airhead, Salva and Nicolas Jaar due Valentine’s Day.

Miguel – Adorn

miguel

Our dude Miguel Jontel returns with his latest single and vid for “Adorn”. The track borrows a bit, stylistically and rhythmically from Marvin Gaye, specifically “Sexual Healing”. That’s cool. But, Miguel, dude, lets talk about that haircut! We love The Weeknd too but the “Tesfaye fade” is not yr look, champ. Spin “Adorn” below.

Wildcat! Wildcat! – Mr. Quiche

mrquiche

L.A.-based trio Wildcat! Wildcat! put on for the quiche loving set (W! W! tweet at us and we can talk quiche recipes) with it’s 8-o’clock-in-the-bedroom jam “Mr. Quiche”. Like on a tune for tune basis, this is one of the better pop melodies we’ve heard so far this year. So yr probably not going to want to miss out on “Mr. Quiche” now, before you hear it covered by Adam Levine on “The Voice” next week.

THROWBACK: The Roots – Break You Off (Feat. D’Angelo) (Original Version)

illadelph

For new mixtape compilation illadelph/matic, Okayplayer and Mick Boogie delve deep into the archives of both The Roots and Nas. The set features 36 prime outtakes and rarities, including appearances from Slick Rick, Roy Ayers & Cee-Lo Green. Our favorite from the mix, which you can sample below, is the original version of The Roots hit “Break You Off” which featured an in-his-prime D’Angelo on the hook (Musiq Soulchild appeared on the final mix).
