JanGetTheMoney – Ergo

jangetthemoney

An ambitous new worldly jam from a bloke that you know studies electronic music at another level. “Ergo” can wear lots of hats but it still maintains all the vital elements of it’s own identity. A new producer to be on the look for.

cults

So Cults are prepping this hip hop mixtape (cause they’re big hip hop stans and everything) and the first sample they’ve released on their public is this new mix for “Bad Things” featuring Gary, IN (shout to Boder) rapper Freddie “Gangsta” Gibbs. You can usually can count on Gibbs to pick good features and “Bad Things” does play down pretty solid. Give it a spin below.

Jhameel – White Lie

Contributed by Chris Gedos

jhameel

Now here’s a cool coffee club banger from blogosphere fav Jhameel. “White Lie” has a great chorus and extended bridge which almost becomes a hidden song-within-a-song. A true polyglot (speaks Arabic, Spanish, Russian and Korean), Jhameel’s music has a cosmopolitan flair which is loved among the echo boomers. This is the sort of song I would play for a jaded hip-hop or indie rock junkie to get them to venture away from their comfort zone and into the other genre’s territory. With so many flashes in the pan, Jhameel has quietly become a familiar face. Get it get it get it.

Damien Jurado – Nothing is the News

jane.11183

The awesome “Nothing is the News” is new from Damien Jurado’s upcoming Maraqopa LP. Produced by Richard Swift, the record promises to be a sprawling, melodic expanse of the best sort of desert-infused blues. Do not miss.

The Maccabees – Pelican

themaccabees

Oh hi. So The Maccabees, owners of b3sci’s #4 track of 2009 returned today with “Pelican”. For starters, “Pelican” is noticeably more upbeat, uptempo, lighter, than much of the material on The Maccabees last LP Wall of Arms. Is “Pelican” is a sign of what’s to come on LP #3? We like the darker Maccabees; but if the quality on a potentially more “keyed up” new LP is at a level with “Pelican” consider us, at the very least, interested to hear more.

Body Language – Holiday (RAC Remix)

bl

One of our favorite bands, E&B Brooklynites Body Language, get a fresh spin from one our favorite remix teams, RAC. And as you can probably infer, the summation of the BL + RAC equation is one of our favorite remixes of the year. RAC’s “Holiday” remix dropped on Radio 1 yesterday, and now you can hear it in 100% CD quality on b3sci. Get it, girl.

The Roots – Stomp

theroots

The Roots are prepping the release of what’s probably their 15th or 20th album, Undun. The latest preview of the project is “Stomp” which features fellow Philadelphian P.O.R.N. and knocks really really hard. An electric guitar lead frames P.O.R.N.’s rhymes as the 1-2 pushes underneath what can only be described as a modern take on the blues. Be ready.

Mansions on the Moon – Desert Island

mansionsonthemoon

MOTM return with “Desert Island”, the first track off their hotly tipped upcoming Pharrell(!) exec-produced EP “Light Years”. “Desert Island” is a definite step forward for the LA band, the melodies are sharper, the hooks tighter, the arrangements are more …arrangier. We can’t wait to hear more from the EP. MOTM. Skateboard P. 2011 to Infinity.
