To what has become a rather redundant style in the indie soundscape, StaG bring a breath of fresh air. With ambient synths and guitars this Boulder Colorado collective compose music rather than play songs. Here’s a band for the radar.
Given all of the hype and ‘secrecy’ surrounding Manchester outfit WU LYF, their material so far speaks for itself. “Dirt” is no exception with a soulful vocal sitting nicely amidst a variety of syncopated concepts, WU LYF continue to peak our curiosity and anticipation to experience them in a live setting. The band has a handful of shows scheduled around the world in the next few months, dates are on their site. Hat tip to b3sci fam Chris Gedos for the heads up on the track.
In any case you thought this song was over… an on-the-up Tinie Tempah gives us all another reason to love the best new stripper song in memory. Here goes the official take off his Foreign Object mixtape:
NYC’s Penguin Prison features on “Reckless” off Huey Mack’s new Freshman 15 mixtape. 80s elevator soundtracks and hip-hop make friends here for one serious party track. Get down!
You know it’s a good day when a new Raphael Saadiq LP hits the shelves! “Just Don’t” is a favorite deep cut off of Stone Rollin’, an album sure to fit comfortably on many year-end lists.
Pittsburgh’s fav 19-yo rapper has a go at Temper Trap’s “Lost Lost”. The more soulful tip suits Mac. “Heatwave” was sick and “Love Lost” is ill. Into it.
We’ve heard this story from Aubrey before “dreams” blah blah blah “money”, but still, it is new Drake and the track is fresh. So for your listening enjoyment, it’s the new Drake.
Remember the song “I Like You So Much Better When You’re Naked”? It’s the kind of title that sticks with you even if you don’t remember who sang the song. It was by Norwegian Ida Maria a few years ago. Her brand new single is “Bad Karma” and it’s more than worthy as it mixes her cool vibe with some Joan Jett-type swagger. See Ida live if you ever get the chance. She literally leaves it all onstage–I’ve seen her become horizontal while doing her show. Anything is possible at an Ida gig and I’m looking forward to this next album.
